The Boeing Company Instructional Systems Design Lead in Yeovil, United Kingdom

Introduction:

In 2014 BDUK won an Interim Training Contract from the MOD for the delivery of Pilot, Loadmaster and Maintainer training in support of the UK C-17 Fleet. This £20M, 5 year contract laid the foundation for what has proven itself to be a critical element of the UK's Defence capability so we are growing this capability by developing an extensive C-17 training catalogue that will provide a complete range of training for pilots, loadmasters and maintenance technicians for the next 20 years. We are looking to hire an experienced Instructional Systems Design Lead to join us in providing specialist course-ware design and development services to the C-17 and wider Defence portfolio of Boeing platforms and services. This is a full-time role based in either Yeovil or Farnborough.

Instructional Systems Designers within Boeing provide an extremely important service in our drive and determination to provide mission critical solutions to the Defence and Security sector. Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Training Design and Development Manager, the Instructional Systems Design Lead is responsible for:

Leading the design, development, management, conduct and evaluation of specialised custom technical training materials, assessments and projects.

Conducting cost-benefit analyses and preparing and presenting reports regarding the development, implementation and evaluation of training projects and curricula.

Providing complete training instruction and guidance in the performance of instructional system design tasks.

Leading the evaluation of new instructional strategies, methods, technologies and tools related to instructional systems design, development and delivery for internal and external customers.

Preferred skills and attributes:

To be successful in this role you will have an excellent understanding of instructional systems design methods and techniques and experience of leading a team of Instructional Systems Designers, Subject Matter Experts, Editors and Media Developers in the design and development of instructor-led and distance learning courseware outputs, preferably within either the aerospace, energy, transport, or manufacturing industry. Good knowledge of and experience in the application of a Systems Approach to Training (SAT) or the Ministry of Defence (MOD) Joint Service Publication (JSP) 822, Defence Direction and Guidance for Training and Education and the Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT). Preferably familiar with rotary and/or fixed wing aircrew, groundcrew, mechanical and avionics systems although this is not essential.

Work Authorisation:

This requisition is for a locally hired position in the UK. Candidates must have current legal authorisation to work immediately in the United Kingdom. Boeing will not attempt to obtain Immigration and labour sponsorship for any applicants. Benefits and pay are determined at the local level and are not part of Boeing U.S. based payroll.

Security Clearance:

This position requires the ability to obtain a UK security clearance for which the Government requires UK Citizenship.

Relocation:

This position does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
