SPC Mechanical BIM Drafter/Spooler in Winston Salem, North Carolina

Responsible for producing necessary shop drawings as required by project/project manager and department manager. Responsible for verifying items produced by the Fab Shop and/or Sheet Metal Shop. Responsible for the operation and maintenance of the CADD system, including updating software. Serve as an information source to pipe fab shop and field when necessary. Prepare clear, complete, and accurate working plans and detail drawings from rough or detailed sketches or notes by performing the following duties—entry-level CAD experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Initial drawings of systems from contract drawings.

  • Aid in creating, updating, and maintaining libraries of equipment and fittings for the CADD system.

  • Prepares clear, complete, and accurate working plans and detail drawings from rough or detailed sketches or notes for construction purposes, according to specified dimensions.

  • Maintain and file all sketches and drawings by name‑number‑location.

  • Provide counts and sketches of Pipe Fab Shop and/or Sheet Metal Shop items.

  • Provide detailed shop drawings as required of duct and piping for the complete project, with the project manager or department manager's time frames.

  • Provide piping assembly drawings for Pipe Fab Shop and/or Sheet Metal Shop.

  • Learn all necessary information regarding mechanical installations that will apply to CADD systems.

  • Makes final sketch of proposed drawing, checking dimension of parts, materials to be used, the relation of one part to another, and various parts to whole structure or project.

  • Utilizes knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences to complete drawings.

  • Makes any adjustments or changes necessary or desired.

  • Draws charts for the representation of statistical data.

  • Draws finished designs from sketches.

  • Uses computer-assisted drafting and design (CADD) equipment and software – Revit, Navis, SysQue, AutoCad

Education and/or Experience

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with various concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should know AutoCAD Design software; MS Internet Explorer Internet software; MS Excel Spreadsheet software, and MS Word Processing software.
