Merck Process Improvement Engineering in Wilson, North Carolina

Job Description

The Specialist, Engineering will provide support for packaging operations in a range of capacities including: analysis of operating performance, management of key operational data within SAP, application of advanced problem-solving capabilities, strengthening compliance posture and inspection readiness, and investigating and authoring deviations related to unplanned events.

Primary activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supportteams toidentify, prioritize,and implementimprovements related to Safety, People, Quality, Delivery, and Costvia detailed analysis of operating performance trends.

  • Leadstructuredproblem solving (i.e.5 Whys, Fishbones, etc.)and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.

  • Aid with implementationof new technology (i.e.installation of new packaging equipment,electronic batch records, etc.).

  • Supportprojects across the Operations area related to changes supporting increased reliability, demonstration of new technology, or enhancementof compliance and safety.

  • Authorsdeviations and works to coordinate, develop and implement Corrective Actions/Preventive Actions (CAPAs).

  • Creates, prepares and reviews operations documents (SOP's, work instructions, job aides, etc)

  • Implementand optimizestandardizedwork(i.e.Tier meetings, task breakdown sheets, etc.)within the Operations department.

Education Requirements:

  • BS Degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent

Required Skills:

  • Demonstratedcommunication (written and verbal), project management and data analysis skills

  • Technical writing experiencei.e.documentationof scientific data.

Preferred Skills:

  • Working knowledge ofcGMPsas they apply to the vaccine/pharmaceutical industry.

  • Working knowledge ofLean and/or Six Sigmamethodologies
