Engineer Associate – AMC Manufacturing

What you’ll do:

  • Applicant will plan, coordinate, and control the manufacturing operations approach used on assigned programs through demonstrated proficiency in key areas.

  • Core competencies shall include interpretation / understanding of engineering drawings; specifications and procedures; basic understanding of manufacturing and fabrication processes; generation of fabrication and assembly work instructions; familiarization with manufacturing efficiency studies; use of basic scheduling tools to plan utilization of resources and familiarity with Lean and 6-sigma concepts / tools.

  • Under the guidance and mentoring of more senior engineers, the applicant must be prepared to conceive and develop valid manufacturing solutions / processes through the application of professionally accepted engineering techniques, practices and procedures.

  • Ensure that all used manufacturing procedures and processes conform to company and/or contract requirements for quality and performance.

  • Compile and evaluate manufacturing data against product conformance standards and specifications.

  • Incorporate engineering changes into manufacturing processes and suggest / implement corrective action for failure analysis as required; participate in manufacturing projects including work cell design lay-out; resource optimization for high mix / low volume builds.

  • Generate manufacturing work instructions in compliance with engineering requirements.

  • Work closely and effectively with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects in a self-directed team environment.

  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Support Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.

  • Perform other duties as necessary.

What you’ll need:

  • BS/BA degree or higher in Engineering or a related field is required.

  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.

  • Degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering preferred.

  • Experience working in a volume manufacturing environment with RF antenna products is highly desirable.

  • Experience working in a Lean and 6-sigma Manufacturing environment is also highly desirable.

  • Must be effective in use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, and Project).

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.

  • May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.

  • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.

  • Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

Security Clearance:

Successful applicant for this position must be eligible to obtain a DoD clearance or government customer access to classified/sensitive material. A current DoD clearance is not required to be eligible for this position, however the successful applicant will be required to obtain a DoD clearance or government customer access within a reasonable time after the offer is extended and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance. *US Citizenship is Required.
