U.S. Military Academy Instructor (Postdoctoral Fellow) in West Point, New York
About the Position: The U.S. Military Academy, West Point, NY is an academic institution located in the Hudson River Valley, 50 miles from New York City. The historic site is the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. West Point is a self contained city with housing, a Department of Public Works, libraries, hospital, fire department, chapels, and restaurants. Employees have access to Eisenhower Hall Theater, Hudson Valley's performing arts center, and recreational facilities.
You will work in the Office of the Dean in close collaboration with the Writing Program?s Director and Associate Director.
You will teach five courses during the regular academic year (4/1) in First-Year Composition and the Writing Program, with the possibility of additional summer teaching.
You will advise academic departments, relevant support units, and select staff on scholarly and professional communication
You will develop pedagogical resources in relation to remote learning and digital media.
You will support the personal growth and development of cadets in and out of the classroom as a role model for future leaders of the Nation.
You will support the development of competent and committed staff.

This is a full-time term appointment in the excepted service starting on or about July 6, 2020, and not to exceed 13 months. You will be eligible to earn annual leave and sick leave .QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must (a) hold a bachelor's degree or higher that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, OR (b) possess a combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above. SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR/KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):
1) Academic accomplishment (an earned doctorate, completed by the start of the appointment, in English, Digital Rhetoric, Digital Humanities, Rhetoric and Composition, or a related field is preferred); 2) Ability to teach courses in college composition and writing pedagogy; 3) Ability to develop collegiate faculty as teachers of writing; 4) Ability to develop pedagogical resources in relation to remote learning and digital media; 5) Ability to support a Writing Center.
