Process Automation EngineerAs a Process Automation Engineer at Cleveland-Cliffs Steel, you'll be part of a global team making steel that goes into products that are visible all around you. As a Process Automation Engineer you will be part of a team supporting applications and infrastructure critical to the operation of the Weirton facility. Responsibilities will include primarily supervisory-level automation along with IT-type support for the automation systems at the plant. Some PLC support may be included as a secondary responsibility. Ideal candidates enjoy hands-on, collaborative environments and are willing to seize opportunities to develop themselves.RESPONSIBILITIESworking directly with a large variety of computers, instrumentation, and related automation equipment.maintenance and problem solving of all aspects of the automation system. Modifications to the automation system to adapt to product changes, changes in incoming products, environmental requirements, or to implement new ideas for continuous improvement to the manufacturing process.addressing issues that may impact production or system reliability.real-time computer automation and monitoring of the processes including maintenance of computer hardware and software, design and installation of new automation systems, and modernization of existing systems.working with complex measurement systems such as vision systems for product quality, thermal imaging temperature measurements, RFID and barcode tag reading for product identification, strip thickness and coating thickness gauges, etc.administering and configuration of Operating Systems and Databases including virtual systems.administration of security controls for automation systems.working with networking technologies, high-speed data transmission, specialty interfaces, and video systems.development, implementation, and maintenance of computer models for mill processes.assignments on new installation or modernization projects with participation in activities such as planning, engineering design, hardware configuration, software design, development and testing, and new system start-up.being well-informed of quality and reliability issues.working with vendors on products and performance issues.keeping abreast of projects and activities performed by the Research group.staying current with technology advancements in industrial automation.supporting a 7x24 operation which will require responding to occasional off-hour calls.writing periodic status reports and presenting project updates to peers, other departments, and management.various other duties as needed to support the business.Develop & implement specific equipment solutions or control systems under given framework for a local area and/or for specific equipment type.Monitor/troubleshoot and determine the stability within a controlling system (drive speed /torque controller or any process control loop) and develop action plans with the MTE Team Leaders to resolve any issues.Assist others to lead any reliability or improvement initiatives within the measurement & control system field and lead the design, implementation, and commissioning of any system.Take a task lead role or commissioning lead role from a project leader to perform physical & software tasks on any process sensor (flow, pressure, temperature, speed, tension etc.) or associated regulation systems of the above sensors as part of a larger project.Perform the technical project or commissioning role of any significant measurement or control...
