Favor TechConsulting, LLC (FTC) is seeking a talented Information Systems Engineer with government and the Department of Justice (DOJ) experience.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Role Overview: FTC supports the Department of Justice, Tax Division by providing IT Support as System Engineer services. Implements, supports, and monitors local and remote IT systems, hardware, and software, including Microsoft operating systems, enterprise applications, security tools, web servers, email, and infrastructure. System Engineers have an array of responsibilities that revolve around designing, developing, and maintaining systems in order to keep them running satisfactorily. They do this by examining systems, troubleshooting their issues, developing solutions to problems that arise, and brainstorming possible upgrades that could be made. Here are a few of their other duties .
Using cost-benefit analyses in order to develop cost-efficient systems for specific projects,
Examining the processes and systems within an organization, from manufacturing to distribution
Performing quality control procedures to make sure that all systems are operational and efficient
Developing system control features that set and maintains quality standards for an organization
Interacting and working with a wide range of people, like management, vendors, clients, and IT staff.
Designs, deploys, tests, and maintains systems infrastructure, operating systems, and business applications
Installs and configures systems to ensure high availability, integrity, and stable performance for production, development, and test environments
Optimize performance and functionality of enterprise systems and applications
Troubleshoot, analyze, isolate, and resolve problems reported by IT support staff and end-users
Test, document, communicate, and release large-scale changes to the enterprise
Monitor, evaluate, and report system performance and security posture.
Technical point of contact responsible for the planning, testing, deployment, and monitoring of information systems.
Collaborates with internal and client leadership to gather, define, and disseminate technical specifications and test plans to customers, pilot users, and stakeholders.
Implements upgrade strategies for the enterprise.
Ensures adherence to quality standards and security best practices are followed.
Required Skills & Experience
System Engineers will need to be familiar with concepts in advanced mathematics, such as trigonometry and calculus.
Candidates will need to multitask in order to manage problems and come up with innovative solutions.
In this field, innovation is key. Candidates need to be able to analyze situations and come up with creative solutions and designs.
System Engineers must use reasoning and logic when troubleshooting issues within a system.
In this position, feedback is integral to development. Candidates will need to receive and respond to constructive criticism appropriately.
System Engineers must excel at both written and verbal communication.
Experience in server and laptop patching using Microsoft MECM and Bigfix.
Experience capturing requirements, developing plans in alignment to technical and functional requirements and managing the testing, integration, and release of IT services to the enterprise
Experience with Microsoft SCCM and SCOM, Monitoring, Deployments, maintenance, patching, scripting, imaging
Experience managing physical and virtual servers, data backup/recovery, iSCSI SAN, and vulnerability management
Experience with Microsoft Server 2012 R2/2016/2019 engineering, optimization, and automation
Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2012/2016/2019 engineering, optimization, and automation
Experience with Microsoft Windows 10 engineering, optimization, and automation
Hyper-V, VMware vSphere 6.x, and Azure experience
Scripting experience (e.g., PowerShell, VBS, batch).
Demonstrated ability to develop plans that consider importance, urgency, risks, and the best interest of the customer.
Demonstrated ability to resolve problems by identifying the root cause, developing short- and long-term solutions, and making recommendations, and executing the resolution.
MCSE, VCP 6, ITIL v4 Foundation
Bachelor’s Degree or Technical degree or equivalent experience .
Years of Professional Experience:
3-5 years of related engineering experience.
Desired Skills & Experience
Leadership in Security and Vulnerability Management teams
Scripting and automation experience in enterprise environments
Preferred ITIL v4 Foundation
Technical or College Degree preferably in an IT Security field
