Guidehouse Database Developer, Senior Consultant in Washington, District Of Columbia

Guidehouse is looking for an experienced Database Developer to join our Digital & Emerging Technology team. As a Database Developer, you will be responsible for designing, testing, planning, implementing, protecting, operating, managing, and maintaining client databases.

Responsibilities include:

  • Design stable, reliable and effective databases

  • Optimize and maintain legacy systems

  • Modify databases according to requests and perform tests

  • Solve database usage issues and malfunctions

  • Communicate with developers to improve applications and establish best practices

  • Gather user requirements and identify new features

  • Develop technical and training manuals

  • Provide data management support to users

  • Ensure all database programs meet company and performance requirements

  • Research and suggest new database products, services and protocols


Required Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in designing, implementation, or consulting with production-scale applications in a regulated, secure environment

  • 5+ years of experience with SQL and stored procedure languages such as PL/SQL, T-SQL, or similar

  • Easily design and implement a business process into functional and efficient code

  • Implement and manage company data management practices and policies

  • 5+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle

  • ETL experience is a plus

  • Good understanding of data and schema standards and concepts

  • Good understanding of database design, implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance

  • Highly organized and self-motivated with the ability to prioritize projects, meet deadlines, and make room for emergencies, as needed.

  • Great interpersonal and communication skills

  • Minimum Years of Experience: 5

  • Minimum Degree Required: Minimum Degree Required: 4-yrs Bachelor's degree, Master’s preferred, in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field

Desired Experience:

  • Database certifications (i.e., Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) - Database Development Certification, Oracle Certified Professional)

  • Experience in administering, managing, and tuning databases

  • Proven experience in a consulting and/or client-facing environment

  • Working knowledge of emerging databases

  • Experience in Agile software development

Travel Required



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field

  • US Citizenship required

  • Master's degree preferred

  • Must be able to obtain up to a Secret clearance

Additional Requirements
