Overseas Private Investment Corporation ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT in Washington, District Of Columbia

Summary

This position is part of the US International Development Finance Corporation, Office of Investment Funds. The incumbent serves as administrative assistant to the Vice President, Deputy Vice President, and to the Office as a whole.

Responsibilities

Supports the Vice President and Deputy Vice President?s business activities, including scheduling meetings and conference calls, and supporting travel related duties, such as pre and post travel schedule planning and logistics.

Supports staff appointments, screens calls and visitors, answering most questions and completing most business involving established policy or administrative or routine office matters.

Plans and organizes luncheons, meetings and conferences with high ranking officials of the U.S. and foreign governments and private industry. Greets visitors to the Department when they arrive and delivers them to the appropriate meeting location.

Exercises responsibility for administrative and clerical operations of the Department. This includes ensuring that Department employees are kept apprised of DFC and departmental office practices and administrative processes.

Responds to inquiries of the staff and other officials of the Corporation, representatives of foreign governments and private industry, other Federal agencies, congressional staff and the public.

Gathers and prepares background material as instructed and appropriate. Notifies the appropriate staff officials of the need for information or recommendations and either prepares the response or follows up to ensure a timely response by others.

Receives incoming telephone calls and visits from US government officials, dignitaries and representatives of foreign governments, ascertains their business and provides information and assistance or refers them to other staff as appropriate.

Qualifications

Specialized experience for the GS-09: You must possess at least one year of specialized experience that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the GS-08 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is in or directly related to the line of work of this position and has equipped you with the knowledge and competencies to successfully perform the duties of this position. More specifically, this requirement involves experience providing administrative support to senior level management in a fast-paced environment to include: scheduling meetings and conference calls; calendar management; screening calls and visitors; and reviewing and proposing efficient administrative office processes and procedures. Applicants must meet all eligibility and qualification requirements no later than 30 days after the closing date of this announcement. A written test is not required. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The duties of this position are suitable for occasional telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval and if they meet the eligibility criterion in the 2010 Telework Act.
