JOB REQUIREMENTS: POSITION SUMMARY Position is responsible for providing quality testing, analysis, and review to ensure that production quality and schedule standards are being achieved including environmental monitoring and microbiological analysis. Trains and supports manufacturing personnel in quality systems to maximize product quality. Initiates problem solving activities relating to quality parameter issues. Supports the continuous training, record keeping, and maintenance of the food safety and quality practices within the Plant. Acts as a point-of-contact, and through professional judgement in evaluation, suggests resolution to food safety and quality concerns in the absence of the Quality Manager. JOB DUTIES Performs in-process and finished good product testing. Pull and test product not fulfilling quality standards. Document quality activities to provide a record of quality compliance efforts. Performs environmental monitoring including microbiological analysis and GMP walk-throughs/Quality auditing. Administer finished foods and raw materials quality holds to ensure that quality issues are investigated an effectively dealt with for disposition. Release raw materials, when necessary, for use in production process or release product for shipment if quality requirements are in compliance. Train manufacturing personnel in the quality system and related quality procedures, responding to quality related issues and providing technical assistance as needed. Advise manufacturing personnel on proper product sampling techniques. Perform quality investigations and research subsequent to consumer complaints. Assist in identifying and solving problems that produce consumer complaints. Perform microbiological tests and analysis; documenting results to ensure that sanitation standards are compliant. Audit the effectiveness of sanitation/CIP on the production lines. Decision-Making Authority/Accountability Level This position works under general supervision where decisions are made based on knowledge of good quality guidelines and Company policies and procedures. Unusual or unique situations are brought to the attention of senior quality staff members for final disposition. Errors in decisions could impact product quality, customer relationships, and create financial loss to the Company. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS Requires relevant specialized coursework beyond high school level education with 1-3 years of related experience in quality techniques. Requires good mathematical ability to perform quality-related calculations, effective interpersonal skills, and good verbal and written communication skills.
