Celularity is a New Jersey-based clinical-stage cell therapeutics company striving to become a leader in cellular therapeutics. We are looking for a highly motivated Scientist to join a group focusing on novel cell-based therapies. The candidate will have a PhD +2 years of academic or industry research experience with extensive hands-on experiences in the design and implementation of isolation, cultivation and characterization of stem cells. This individual should have in-depth knowledge of stem cell biology and is familiar with different cell-based assays and molecular biology techniques. Master’s degrees will be considered with sufficient and relevant experience. Research experience with exosome is a plus. The candidate will be responsible for performing laboratory-based studies to identify and generate stem cells from human placenta aiming to support product development for regeneration and anti-aging therapeutics. The candidate is expected to support multiple internal projects, provide experimental design expertise, conduct data analysis, and provide regular research progress reports, both in written and oral form.
Will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Work as key contributor and interact with a matrix team to design and develop methods to isolate, culture and characterize stem cells from human placenta.
Develop methods to investigate placenta derived stem cells using cell biology, flow cytometry, molecular biology and immuno-biology assays.
Lead efforts in experimental design and implementation, perform data analysis and generate nonclinical data package to enable product candidate for cell therapy.
Review current literature, contribute novel ideas, anticipate and provide solutions to technical/experimental challenges.
Provide written and oral scientific progress reports to Project Lead and Senior Management, generate intellectual property applications and scientific publications.
Maintain laboratory records, electronic files, and laboratory notebooks to support experimental studies and intellectual property development.
Assist team members as necessary to complete divisional goals.
Maintain a safe and clean work environment in accordance with lab/OSHA policies/procedures.
Skills/Knowledge Required / Desired:
PhD (strongly preferred) +2 years relevant expereince in academia or industry required; OR BS +7/ MS +5 years relevant experience in academia or industry required.
Strong project management, organizational, problem solving and analytical skills
Strong enthusiasm for learning new scientific knowledge and self-starter work habit
Solid understanding of stem cell biology and stem cell therapeutics required. Preference will be given to candidates with experiences on human tissue derived stem cells and exosome biology.
In depth and hands-on experience with multiparameter flow-cytometry, qRT-PCR, primary cell culture, ELISA and immuno-assays is required. CRISPR-gene editing experience is desired.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and oral, is required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), FlowJo and Graph-pad Prism.
Ability to work both independently and in collaborative team environment.
Must be goal-oriented and capable of efficient multi-tasking in a fast-moving start-up environment.
Practical knowledge and/or product development experience is preferred.
