Job Summary

The Sr Engineer, Disaster Recovery is responsible for the design, implementation, testing and documentation of IT Disaster Recovery and IT Cyber Recovery Solutions for all applications supporting our core critical business processes. This role works with all IT Teams, Partners and Business Teams to ensure critical business processes and dependencies are understood, documented, and accounted for in the IT recovery solutions. The role is responsible for continuously evaluating and improving planning and recovery processes to ensure recovery efforts are streamlined, automated and efficient as possible. Evaluates new Recovery Technologies that could improve our IT recovery posture and align with our business goals. Responsible for delivery of all Disaster and Cyber Recovery activities supporting the overall Business Continuity Management process, by ensuring the required technical and services facilities can be recovered within required, and agreed, business objectives.


  • Design IT Disaster Recovery and Cyber Recovery solutions for critical business applications that are aligned with our business goals and objectives, engaging IT, and business resources as necessary.

  • Collaborate with IT and Business Teams to gather requirements, understand processes and solicit participation in building and validating the proposed or implemented recovery solutions.

  • Work with IT Vendors to quickly learn and understand new technologies that might provide value to improving or meeting our technology objectives.

  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses technology issues that prevent successful protection and recovery of systems and data.

  • Prepares detailed technical diagrams and business process flow diagrams.

  • Prepares IT runbooks, Recovery Playbooks, procedures, IT recovery test reports and Business Recovery Validation reports.

  • Determines dependencies supporting business processes and applications.

  • Determines comprehensive costs of IT Recovery Solutions

  • Manage, orchestrate, and document IT Recovery Planning, Exercises and Tabletop Exercises.

  • Extract IT recovery requirements from Business Impact Analysis (BIA)s.

  • Assist with incorporating runbooks into BCM module within ServiceNow.

  • Collaborates with IT Teams to develop IT Disaster and Cyber Recovery Solutions.

  • Presents technical solutions, ideas and concepts to IT Teams and Business Leaders.

Job Qualifications


Bachelor’s degree in the field of computer science, engineering or equivalent experience required.


  • 5 - 7 years of IT Disaster Recovery or IT Engineering and IT Operations experience

  • Design, implementation and management of IT Technologies including, but not limited to Microsoft Windows, Linux, Microsoft SQL Always On Availability, Infoblox Appliances, MS Active Directory, SSO, Azure AD, F5 Load Balancers, Palo Alto Firewalls, Vormetric Encryption, Azure Site Recovery, Zerto, Azure Backup Services, MS Azure Native Cloud Services, Networking, IP Addressing, IP based Telecommunication Technologies, IAM Technologies, PAM Technologies, Cisco AMP, ServiceNow, Disaster Recovery Services, etc.

  • Broad range of IT knowledge including but not limited to compute, networking, security tools, storage, databases, business applications, cloud technologies, active directory, DNS, operating systems (Windows and Linux), load balancers, containers, encryption technologies, Telecommunication Technologies, replication, and backup technologies.

  • Understanding of Microsoft Azure Cloud Environment, structure, services, and boundaries.

  • Strong Project Management Skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Demonstrate business acumen and the ability to apply technology solutions to solve business problems.

  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

  • Ability to quickly build rapport and gain the respect and cooperation of both technology and business leaders.

  • Action oriented and driven to achieve results in a positive manner, displaying ethical behavior, integrity, and building trust.

  • Excellent leadership skills required, as well as the ability to lead and work as part of a team.

  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate and persuade at all management levels and thrive for cross-functional matrix environment.

    10 + years’ IT Disaster Recovery or IT Engineering and IT Operations experience

  • CBCP or MBCP Certification or equivalent.

  • PMP Certification or equivalent.
