In collaboration with the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office, Liberty Healthcare operates an acute stabilization unit within the Maguire Correctional Facility in Redwood City, CA. This is a 10-bed unit which provides high-quality inpatient mental health services to adult inmates who are struggling with acute mental illness.
As a Mental Health Clinician your responsibilities will involve providing direct care to adult inmates, more specifically:
Conducting intake assessments and preparing diagnostic evaluations
Developing, evaluating and implementing goal-oriented treatment plans
Providing direct clinical services to inmate clients - individually and in groups
Intervening in crisis situations
Documenting patient encounters and changes in patient’s mental health status
Completing legal documentation and testifying at legal hearings
Actively participating in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings
Collaborating with clinicians, ancillary staff, and corrections custody staff
Communicating with a wide array of internal and external stakeholders, agencies and providers

You’re a good fit for this position if you are licensed professionally in California as a ACSW, AMFT or APCC. Prior experience assessing and treating people who have severe and persistent mental illness, especially in an inpatient setting is helpful.
You must have a high level of compassion and willingness to serve others – especially those who are experiencing mental illness.
