Position Summary:

The Product Manager II position is a full-time employment opportunity. The Product Manager will work to support and strengthen the bridges between our business departments and our technology department in order to ensure the best possible experience for our schools’ students is delivered. The Product Manager is a key role in our Scrum and/or a Kanban teams, and will provide information that will help with a successful delivery of the solution. We are looking for a Product Manager who understands Higher Education business processes and how they are applied to technology systems, with specific emphasis in Data and Reporting. We also expect the Product Manager to have knowledge of the technical aspects of the products that they support in order to be able to advise our business partners on best possible solutions. The Product Manager will also identify product weak spots, align the product to customer and market needs, assist in prioritizing the backlog and collaborate well amongst groups. This person should have experience working in an Agile Environment and is expected to be hands-on 100% of their time with a strong ability to learn and effectively communicate.

Job Description:

Essential Job Duties:

  • Collaborate with business and technical teams to understand, create and consume high-level product roadmaps

  • Understand value associated with requested/needed features

  • Meet regularly with the front-end users of the product to better understand product performance and use

  • Basic Knowledge of Data Warehousing and integration points with various products

  • Ability to write basic SQL statements

  • Familiarity with reporting tools such as Microsoft Power BI, that are used to deliver key metrics to stakeholders

  • Manage product enhancements and initiatives that are driven by roadmap and performance discussions

  • Assist with creating, maintaining and prioritizing the product backlog

  • Drive priorities for the Scrum/Kanban teams by collaborating with Stakeholders, Development, Quality Assurance, Scrum Masters and or Project Management

  • Elicit requirements to align with product strategy, evolution and direction of our products

  • Create Epics, User Stories, and subsequent documentation with enough detail for Development and Quality Assurance to deliver high quality work

  • Frequently communicate with sponsors, stakeholders and Agile team members regarding the vision for the product

  • Plan any change of scope with the Development Leads, Scrum Masters, Project Managers and collaborate across the organization to manage change.

  • Attend daily Scrums to communicate changes in priority and to assist in removing roadblocks

  • Identify testers, drive User Acceptance Testing execution, and obtain and store sign off before moving code to production

Minimum Requirements:

  • Passion for being at the leading edge of Higher Education Technology with a minimum of 2-6 years of hands on Product Manager experience

  • Experience working in Agile driven technical department

  • Ability to create roadmaps for current and future work

  • Ability to prioritize items based on value and importance

  • Key knowledge holder of business processes for a given product

  • In depth technical understanding of how a product functions

  • Product, Technical and business requirement documentation skills

  • Ability to correctly write a User Story

  • Experience applying Agile principles and practices

  • Experience working with multiple teams

  • Ability to think and act strategically for all stakeholders

  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with JIRA Software to track tasks, build a backlog, create User Stories, create sprints and monitor status

  • Thorough knowledge of Agile Scrum and Agile Kanban roles and responsibilities

  • Experience executing Scrum Master tasks

  • Experience with the Salesforce Platform

  • Experience with Data Lakes

  • Experience with User Acceptance Testing

  • Experience with Visio and Draw.io to create UML, BPMN or other types of diagrams to describe systems, process flows and system integration points

Education:

  • Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree required

Education Requirements:

If a degree or education credit minimum is required for the position, all education must be conferred by a regionally accredited or approved nationally accredited institution. All candidates must provide proof of higher education (official transcripts) upon request.

The employee will be required to make judgment decisions and adapt to changing work situations, grasp and apply new ideas, communicate with various personalities at all levels and have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to work in an office environment, and the noise level is usually moderate to loud.
