As a Packaging Engineer in the Glad business, you will be responsible for packaging innovation for Trash bags and Food wraps. You will develop new packaging from concept to development, using your technical leadership to translate end-user insights into package solutions. You will work on innovation teams in close partnership with Product and Process peers, as well as Marketing, Sales, Product Supply, and Regulatory. From the development of prototypes for leading edge sustainability efforts, to delivering new/improved packages for commercialization, you will play a significant role in driving innovation in packaging for the Glad business. You will be an end-to-end champion for the consumer, delivering consistent high-quality products. As an Associate Research Fellow, you will stay on top of industry trends, serve as a thought leader for packaging, and serve as a champion for sustainability.
Lead package design and specification development for new package solutions in design and execute against Technical Discovery and commercialization objectives, leveraging consumer understanding and packaging expertise.
Collaborate closely with other functional areas involved in Discovery and Commercialization, including cross-functional partners such as Global Insights, Marketing, Design, Manufacturing, Suppliers, Procurement, Product & Packaging development.
Proficiently identify, select and apply known technology from inside and outside sources (suppliers, experts, etc.) to deliver against consumer and supply chain needs, create foundational understanding, and drive key business initiatives.
Analyze and interpret data to drive technical understanding, meet project targets and objectives, problem solve, and make recommendations that drive efficiency, knowledge, and manage risk
Become proficient in data management and specification systems to support new product launches
Champion sustainability to help define, monitor, and achieve sustainability goals for the business and work on future technologies to push the envelope with new ways of thinking.
Communicate effectively within a multi-functional team and build strong partnerships both internally and externally.
Support creation of broad exclusionary strategy (IP) where and when applicable.
Key Skills, Abilities ,Experience and Education Required
- 10+ years’ experience in CPG packaging environment.

Creative problem solver with a record of created innovative products.
- BA/BS degree in Package Engineering or other technical discipline
Broad and deep package development technical knowledge preferably focused on carton and case development.
Strong technical curiosity and creative problem-solving skills with a record of innovative technical solutions implemented.
Hands-on focus, sound technical judgment to influence team and business direction
Broad knowledge of the packaging industry for CPG companies, suppliers, and consumers.
Experience driving technical and consumer innovation projects, applying innovation behaviors to real-world consumer problems: Consumer Empathy, Risk Taking, Influencing, Idea Integration, &/or Results Seeking.
