RELX Group Managing Director, Reed Elsevier Philippines in United States

The Managing Director leads RELX’s 4,000 FTE global shared services center in the Philippines (the largest RELX site globally). The center supports all RELX divisions globally, delivering services across multiple functional areas including: content processing, editorial, customer service, finance, legal, marketing, sales, and IT. The Managing Director is responsible for developing strategies to support the rapid growth of Reed Elsevier Philippines and stakeholder business plans, as well as providing strong leadership and direction to team members to ensure business objectives and deliverables are met. The position requires strong collaboration to ensure all plans, policies and procedures are appropriate to meet the business, operational, and service delivery needs of the business. This role will oversee RELX’s continued digital transformation, including process optimization and the use of advanced technologies. Responsible for nurturing the positive workplace culture and strong employee engagement focus.

Accountabilities:

• Overall operational responsibility for a large-scale (4,000+ FTE), multi-function shared services center that spans two sites in the Philippines

• Oversees the day-to-day operations and deliverables of the organization to ensure stakeholder satisfaction and operational goals/objectives/KPIs are achieved across all functions

• Manages the migration and transition of new workflow/processes

• Develops plans and strategies to support a complex pipeline of new work to the center balancing stakeholder timing needs

• Leads the transformation of the REPH’s internal operations to position the company for long-term success in a world of increasing automation. Drive further efficiency and effectiveness by bringing powerful new technology tools to REPH’s operations, including robotic process automation, artificial intelligence, and machine learning

• P & L accountability. Develops and manages a multi-million-dollar budget ($115M USD) and monitors related expenditures to ensure compliance with budget plans/forecasts

• Supports and manages new business initiatives coming into the REPH

• Responsible for ensuring the infrastructure is in place to meet short and long-term business needs (including business continuity demands)

• Establishes operational objectives and directs performance to ensure the efficient and effective execution of operational plans to enhance profitability, productivity, and efficiency

• Promotes a highly engaged and agile culture that reflects the organization’s values, encourages proactive continuous improvement, and rewards productivity and innovation

• Effectively communicates with business stakeholders in support of the company’s values and deliverables and builds strong stakeholder relationships

• Instills a continuous operational improvement culture across all functional areas

• Manages team attrition to achieve the appropriate balance between healthy and unhealthy attrition

• Collaborates with cross-functional and global BUs to achieve established goals and objectives

• Responsible for achieving measurable results on time and on budget

• Formulates, implements, and enforces standardized operating procedures

• Develops and implements plans to improve employee satisfaction, productivity and engagement

• Ensures compliance with Philippine laws and regulations

Other Qualifications/Requirements:

  1. Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's/College Degree. JD/MBA Preferred

  2. 10 years of working experience in the related field and have held senior management positions leading large-scale organizations (3,000+ FTEs) preferred

  3. People Manager for at least ten years preferably in the relevant functional or related field

  4. Work experience in multiple functional areas (editorial, customer service, IT, etc.) preferred
