About the role

In this role, you will support activities related to income tax accounting, reporting, controls, and forecasting at Gap Inc. You will support the broader Finance organization, and provide subject matter expertise and guidance on matters related to tax compliance, tax accounting, and tax regulation (foreign and domestic). You will be a critical partner to other parts of the Finance organization, including teams in Payroll, Compensation, Internal Audit, our Corporate Controller's Group, Treasury, and FP+A. You will be primarily responsible for assisting in the preparation and review of interim and annual global income tax provisions under ASC 740, as well as preparation and review of all tax accounting internal and external deliverables. You will also assist with federal, state and local income and franchise tax compliance.

What you'll do

  • Play a key role in assisting and managing the preparation of the global income tax provision

  • Prepare and review permanent and temporary book/tax differences supporting global income tax provision

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls (Sarbanes-Oxley) and proper documentation of processes in order to minimize tax risk

  • Partner with Domestic and International Tax teams to deliver technical analysis, calculations and documentation supporting the income tax provision computations

  • Support tax planning, corporate initiatives, and a wide range of tax projects

  • Analyze provision processes and develop recommendations for scalable efficiencies and improvements including implementation of tax accounting software

Who you are

  • Developed expertise and an ability to build knowledge of federal taxation and tax planning with general knowledge of state and international income tax laws and current developments

  • Strong analytical skills with ability to assess large amounts of data, apply concepts of ASC 740, and produce high quality analysis of the impacts to a global income tax provision

  • Proven track record of delivering results through preparation and review of a global income tax provision

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate in a team setting and develop relationships with business partners

  • Ability to work independently and problem solve through complex tasks

  • Advanced technology skills with the ability to use VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and other functions daily; experience with tax software including OneSource Tax Provision and CSC Corptax
