PLEASE NOTE: Based on the current hiring restrictions, selectees may be subject to additional approvals prior to an offer being extended.The incumbent serves as a Lead Information Technology Specialist in theBureau of the Fiscal Service, Office of Information and Security Services – Infrastructure Operations (ISS-IO), Operating Systems and Storage Division (OSSD), Windows Branch (WB). There is one position that can be filled in Parkersburg, WV or Kansas City, MO.
As a Lead IT Specialist, you will:
Articulate and communicate to the team the assignment, project, problem to be solved, actionable events, milestones, priorities and/or program issues under review, and deadlines and time frames for completion.
Lead the team in: identifying, distributing and balancing workload and tasks among employees in accordance with established work flow, skill level and/or occupational specialization; making adjustments to accomplish the workload in accordance with established priorities to ensure timely accomplishment of assigned team tasks; and ensuring that each employee has an integral role in developing the final team product.
Train or arrange for the training of team members in methods and techniques of team building and working in teams to accomplish tasks or projects, and provide or arrange for specific technical training necessary for accomplishment of individual and team tasks.
Monitor and report on the status and progress of work, check on work in progress and review completed work to see that the managers instructions on work priorities, methods, deadlines and quality have been met.
Lead the team in assessing its strengths and weaknesses and provide leadership to the team in exploring alternatives and determining what improvements can be made (e.g., in work methods, processes and procedures).

Specialized experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes experience performing Information Technology (IT) duties which could involve the planning, installation, configuration, testing, implementation and management to support physical and virtual Enterprise Windows Server Operating System infrastructure along with leading or overseeing a project. Examples of such experience could include: - Experience as a systems administrator of Windows operating systems, VMWare, server hardware components, advanced data storage solutions, network and telecommunications issues in a production support environment; OR - Experience in the technical planning, engineering, deployment, and support of IT systems; OR - Experience with a wide range of server OS, software, management, and remote support technologies and techniques at the Tier 3 or 4 support levels. AND In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must have proficiency in each of the four competencies listed below. - Attention to Detail, such as monitoring performance or availability for Enterprise Windows Server Operating System. - Customer Service, such as providing technical support pertaining to Enterprise Windows Server Operating System. - Oral Communication, such as serving as a point of contact for Enterprise Windows Server Operating System. - Problem Solving, such as evaluating incidents or problems to resolve issues for Enterprise Windows Server technology. In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12 level for 52 weeks.
