We are currently recruiting for an Editorial Assistant for our Life Science team in the books division. This is an excellent opportunity to gain a thorough introduction into the world of publishing at the centre of the business and in a demanding role. We are seeking a candidate with enthusiasm, motivation, and a commitment to learning new publishing and business skills.
Keeping the publishing programme on schedule through regular liaison with authors
Preparing manuscripts for handover to production to agreed standards and on schedule
Setting up new titles in our database, and ensuring that any changes to projects are updated promptly
Commissioning peer reviews for projects as requested by their editor
Preparing and sending out contracts for new projects
Drafting back cover copy for books for editor and author approval
Responding promptly and appropriately to external and internal inquiries
Liaising closely with production and marketing to ensure they have the information they need, when they need it
Supporting the broader editorial team within the remit of their EA squad
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, strong Microsoft Office skills, the ability to prioritise and manage a varied workload, and the energy and enthusiasm to contribute to a busy working environment. In addition, they will be able to demonstrate sound commercial awareness and commitment to a career in publishing. Previous publishing or bookselling experience would be an advantage.
