Job Description


Maintain broad working knowledge of manuscript policy terms and conditions and claims reporting and management criteria across multiple lines of coverage, with emphasis in General Liability, Auto, and Umbrella; Property; and to a lesser extent, Cyber, Executive Risk lines and Workers Compensation

Manage and facilitate the claims process: Make prompt and concise coverage determinations relating to incidents, claims and litigation. Document intake of incident reports and claims and manage flow of additional information required for General Liability, Auto, and Property matters. Oversee and direct management and resolution of complex losses. Interact with TPAs, including establishing standards and monitoring results. Engage with internal and outside counsel, including monitoring and recording of investigation, legal and settlement expenses and timely reserves within RMIS. Participate in negotiations, mediations, and arbitrations with claimants and insurers. Engage in the subrogation process to pursue recovery from responsible third parties as warranted. Organize and analyze loss data for underwriting purposes; compile data for actuarial analysis, internal or regulatory reporting, and other uses.

Engage with Facilities, Legal, and Risk to identify emerging risks for underwriting purposes – provide feedback loop to department management to bridge the gap between underwriting and claims, identifying trends with insured claims and risks not typically considered insurable.

Manage workflow associated with insurance site inspections and boiler inspections, and related recordkeeping.


According to Department guidelines, provide guidance to internal business partners regarding insurance provisions in leases, vendor agreements, and client contracts.

Support department personnel as needed to communicate the scope and details of KeyCorp s corporate insurance program in appropriate manner to internal and external parties.

Collaborate with department personnel and other internal constituents regarding policies and procedures.

Participate in insurance-related industry associations such as RIMS or CLM.

Additional support to other department personnel and other business units as directed.


Bachelor s degree in risk management or a business-related field


Professional designation such as Associate in Claims

A minimum of five years of experience in insurance claims role in corporate insurance, broker, or insurance company operations, or in another similar capacity


Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written; close attention to detail and documentation

Analytical skills, particularly toward evaluation of loss data and event causation

Insights in how to bridge coverage gaps


Personal computer; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, RMIS software



PC software training as needed


Department is based at 127 Public Square, Cleveland, Ohio – working remotely at this time

Remote work location with secure internet access will be considered longer-term but will require some travel required, primarily in the north east.
