To provide campers with a positive camp experience functioning within camp goals and established policies and procedures.

HOURS: Monday - Friday, 8:45am - 4:15pm - June 17 through August 29. You must be available to work 9 of the 11 weeks.
PRINCIPAL JOB SEGMENTS:
Responsible for the safety and well-being of campers assigned to his/ her group.
Responsible for planning, and participating in group activities.
Responsible for assisting and/or implementing an elective.
Responsible for assisting swim instructors during swim lessons.
Responsible for being a spotter (additional visual spotting on the children while swimming) on the pool deck during free swim and swimming lesson period.
Provides direct assistance to Head Counselor and takes over responsibility for group in the absence of Head Counselor.
Will participate in bus duty rotation schedule.
Responsible for the safe drop-off and pick-up of all children at bus stops.
Responsible for the safety and well-being of campers on bus.
Responsible for the safe arrival and departure of all children at the parent pick-up circle and/or morning and aftercare program.
Fills out accident and incident reports as necessary.
Supports and participates in Association Initiatives according to Association criteria. Partners with other departments or outside agencies as appropriate to ensure success.
Builds relationships with campers; encourages campers to build relationships with other campers and join in camp activities.
Facilitates and guides the teaching of the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in our YMCA programs. In addition, models these values personally.
Maintains discipline with children during all activities under the guidelines of the Hunterdon County YMCA Child Abuse Prevention Policy and Code of Conduct.
Follows all Hunterdon County YMCA policies and procedures.
Keeps Head Counselor apprised of situations requiring his/her attention.
Attends trainings, seminars and meetings as required.
Performs other job-related duties as requested and necessary.

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must be at least 17 years old.
Must have at least 2 years experience working with children (i.e. baby-sitting, assisting in a church youth group, leadership role in a peer group, or a job that required working with children).
Must have leadership experience (i.e. in a sport, musical group, school organization / club, or related activity).
Must be able to swim.
