RWJ Barnabas Health is currently accepting applications for the position of Assistant Director of Sports Nutrition; Football at Rutgers University. The successful candidate will report directly to the Director of Sports Nutrition and will supervise and coordinate the University's sports nutrition services for football in cooperation with the football coaches and operational staff.
Qualifications: Appropriate education and training in area of specialization, including a Bachelor Degree and credential as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN), Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD), 3 years of directly related professional experience as a Sports Dietitian.
Additional Skills: Ability to meet the extensive time commitments required for a Division I athletic program, capacity to work independently, prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner within a fast-paced environment, outstanding written and communication skills required for working with a diverse population, excellent organizational skills with accuracy and attention to detail, ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion, handling sensitive matters involving patients, and computer literacy, including working knowledge of word processing programs.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and maintaining a comprehensive Football Nutrition Program including, but not limited to:
Assisting the Director of Sports Nutrition with departmental duties.
Supervising the Assistant Sports Dietitian for Football, Hale Center nutrition volunteers and the daily operations of the Hale Center fueling zones.
Providing sports nutrition education, screening, assessment and counseling to student-athletes;
Coordinating with coaches, support staff, and food service personnel in creating and planning appropriate training table menus;
Coordinating pre- and post-competition meals, both at home and during team travel;
Understanding the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics' Policy on Body Composition Assessment and conduct and oversee body composition assessment and analysis in adherence with this policy;
Collaborating with other personnel such as coaches, strength and conditioning coaches, athletic trainers, physicians, and administrators, as well as campus resources in execution of all responsibilities as appropriate and necessary;
Researching and analyzing current available evidence related to sports nutrition, athletic performance, and dietary supplementation.
Must perform above duties with the highest standard of professionalism and ethical behavior and in accordance with University, Departmental, Big Ten and NCAA regulations, policies and procedures. The employee also shall use all reasonable means to assure that subordinate employees (if applicable) comply with these rules, regulations, policies and ethical standards.
Availability to work non-traditional working hours: including breaks, holidays, evenings, and weekends; Travel is required.
