HP, Inc. Mechanical Hardware Development Engineer in Vancouver, Washington

As an experienced Mechanical Hardware Development Engineer you will join a highly capable design team delivering new products and platforms. You will participate in all aspects of product development to bring innovative new products to market for either a printer or another electromechanical device under development.As a member of an RandD design team tasked with delivering market-leading electromechanical systems solutions, your work will include designing mechanical parts and subsystems, writing and verifying algorithms, designing and executing tests, troubleshooting and iterating the designs to assure robust and reliable solutions. You will work with partners in FW, Manufacturing, Procurement and Quality to assure that your designs meet the expected functionality, quality and design margin, and can be manufactured and sourced. You will be active in the identification and resolution of system level design issues. You will also work closely with partner development labs, manufacturing, marketing, customer assurance, and potentially with external partners.The successful candidate will have demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment across technical disciplines and geographically distributed organizations. Previous knowledge and experience with high-volume low-cost consumer products are helpful. You must also have demonstrated excellent ME technical depth/breadth, leadership, planning, organization, and judgment. System integration will be multi-discipline in nature, so a good understanding of customer focused product design, electro-mechanical systems, and system integration is beneficial.In this role you we will develop products, system solutions, and processes using broad engineering concepts or through directing and providing technical consultation to third parties. You will perform system and reliability testing per design specifications and facilitate transition of product designs to full production.The scope could include mechanism design, ink delivery systems, pen reliability or system integration.Primary ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop mechanical hardware, algorithms and system solutions that meet customer expectations. This requires unique balance of performance, reliability, cost, functional experience, simplicity and design elegance.Propose development plans and gain alignment with partners on activities required to deliver the designs, including objectives, integration schedule, key dependencies/risks and implementation into production.Support system integration efforts that include mechanical, writing system, electrical, servo system, and FW interactions.Develop test plans, test scripts, and manage testing to validate performance and reliability. Use design of experiments (DOE) methods. Analyze data from experiments to draw conclusions regarding design effectiveness. Publish results in written reports.Perform root cause analysis of defects; propose, evaluate and implement solutions.Perform tasks required by the Quality Management System and regulatory certification processes to assure reliability and quality control for the productIdentify PPP's for your designs. Plan and execute loss function and design margin testing. Assure design is capable under variety of customer use conditions and part variations.Work across multi-discipline teams to ensure successful integration of your designs with other elements of the system. Partner with product teams to ensure platform to product integrations issues are identified and resolved. Provide leadership for cross discipline and business activities that support successful program deliveryPerform engineering analysis and apply judgment to identify options and tradeoffs and select the best design option.Provide ongoing leadership to improve print mechanism ME discipline processes in support of higher productivity, while still delivering robust solutions to custome
