Job Summary:
The Case Cart Coordinator coordinates and performs the inventory control, data entry, clerical and manual tasks involved in the preparation of case carts to include requests, receipt, verification, and storage of sterile supplies and surgical instruments, in the Sterile Processing Department & Equipment Distribution Center.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate and perform the clerical and manual tasks involved in the request, verification, and storage of specialized equipment, materials, surgical instruments and supplies. Maintain and prepare mobile equipment and surgical case cart supply lists utilizing database application. Perform clerical duties as required in support of departmental functions. Operate bar code instrument & equipment tracking system to assure inventories are maintained and appropriate bar code labels are created. Assist in the preparation of department and special budget; making recommendations and projections based on knowledge of the departmental operations; prepare and compile supply or instruments reports or documents for Operating Room scheduled cases. Communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with co-workers. Other duties may be assigned to facilitate the functions of the department and the healthcare facility.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Experience:
2 – 3 years’ case cart inventory experience preferred. Working knowledge of surgical supplies and instruments. Understanding of Sterile Processing functions and responsibilities. Experience in requisitioning, ordering and receiving supplies. Demonstrates excellent analytical and process improvement skills. Previous experience in general office functions including typing and filing.
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Licenses / Certifications:
Certified Registered Central Service Technician by International Associate of Health Care Central Service Material Management (CRCST, IAHCSMM), required. If outstanding, must obtain certification within one year of hire.
Other:
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office computer programs and the internet.
