JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Housing and Food Services has an immediate opening for a part-time wage payroll Food Safety Specialist.
The position is responsible for the development of food safety programs for the Penn State Bakery and Warehouse operations.
The Food Safety Specialist will develop:
Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) plans
Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP) plans
Allergen Control plans
Other preventive control programming in accordance with FSMA guidelines
The successful candidate will:
perform direct observations of daily operations
review records to verify processes related to the HACCP, SSOP, Good Manufacturing Procedures (GMP), and Allergen Control programs of the facility
develop and implement regular audit processes of the associated food safety programs to ensure compliance
produce compliance reports and present findings to colleagues and management staff with a focus on continuous improvement
using available data, this position will recommend necessary changes related to food safety and quality in the areas of receiving, production, maintenance, packaging, storage, shipping and sanitation
help to develop, implement, and organize food safety related training for operational staff as required
1 - 2 years’ experience in food processing with experience related to food safety and/or quality management
Basic HAACP training required
Preference for experience with food processing organization
Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Animal Science, Microbiology or related field, or 4 years related experience.
