JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Position will be responsible to the Director of Admissions Services & Evaluation. The successful candidate will provide a high level of student-centered service in all recruitment and evaluation activities. We are intentionally working to diversify our staff so that we can better represent the diversity of students we recruit. We are looking for diverse and culturally connected individuals with enthusiasm for, and demonstrated commitment to, supporting students and families from a wide range of backgrounds. Those who are well-traveled, domestically and/or internationally, and bilingual candidates are particularly encouraged to apply. A demonstrated high level of customer service in high volume environment is critical. Candidates should have experience in or a desire to evaluate international credentials, with the ability to effectively research diverse educational systems and educational credentials. In this role, you will admit, refer, or deny applications for undergraduate admission, including international, domestic, first-year, and transfer applicants. Admissions Counselors also actively recruit prospective students and present admissions information to diverse groups of students and families, both on and off campus. Admissions Counselors represent the University at high school visits, college fairs, and other events while developing relationships with high school counselors and other student influencers. Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and organizational skills are essential, with a desire to communicate with prospective students and their families about their Penn State options throughout the application process. Admissions Counselors articulate undergraduate admission options for all campuses, working with colleagues at all Penn State campuses to assist in admissions processes. The ability to manage concurrent projects is required. As part of this role you will handle large volume of inquiries via email, telephone, and in-person, helping prospective, applicant, and admitted students and families to make informed college-choice decisions. Some travel and weekend work may be required.

Typically requires a bachelor’s degree or higher plus one or more years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Computer experience with knowledge of PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, Slate (or other CRM system), and Microsoft Office Suite is strongly preferred. This position requires operation of a motor vehicle as a part of job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year with excellent possibility of re-funding. Penn State has an excellent benefits package, including tuition discount.
