Position: Assistant / Associate Professor of Quantitative Research (Tenure Track).

The Department of Educational Studies at the University of Alabama invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor of Quantitative Research. We are seeking a scholar with an expertise in longitudinal modeling with Latent Variables, such as latent growth curve modeling, latent transition analysis, and growth mixture modeling. We are especially interested in scholars whose methodological work intersects with one or more of the Colleges of Education’s academic departments (e.g., Curriculum and Instruction, Special Education) and/or other helping professions at the university (e.g., Social Work, Public Health). Candidates who are applying for Assistant Professor should have an emergent track record of research in high quality journals and other research outlets. Candidates for Associate Professor should have a research and grant profile that merits tenure at a Research I university.

The Department of Educational Studies houses a flourishing educational research program that offers a PhD in Educational Research and both Qualitative and Quantitative Research Certificates for graduate students. The successful candidate will join an expert cadre of quantitative researchers with diverse expertise in statistics and measurement.

Minimum Qualifications: ● Earned doctorate in educational research or a related field, with a specialization in quantitative methods; ● Demonstrated knowledge of quantitative research methods and longitudinal research designs; ● Evidence of ability to conduct research leading to publication; ● Evidence of teaching effectiveness in basic and advanced statistics courses. ● Ability to work with students and faculty in a variety of disciplines; ● Excellent writing and communication skills; ● Evidence of participation in national professional organizations. ● Commitment to diversity, equity, and socially-just research and teaching practices.

Preferred Qualifications: • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in using latent growth curve modeling, latent transition analysis, and/or growth mixture modeling. • Evidence of engagement in interdisciplinary, multi-disciplinary, or transdisciplinary research. • Experience working on and securing externally funded research projects.
