Mid-Continent is currently searching for an Associate Business Technical Analyst in the Tulsa, Oklahoma area.

Department: Underwriting Systems Group (USG) consists of a small team of business technical analysts who provide basic technical and policy issuance support for the Commercial Underwriting Department. They also update and maintain business data (rate, rule, and form) in many of the system applications used by Underwriting.

  • Data, Formula & Table Maintenance – Develop and maintain the tables, databases and formulas applying to insurance rates, rules and forms within the company’s underwriting rating and policy administration system.

  • Analyze, research and resolve policy rating issues and other data related problems for the Commercial Underwriting Department.

  • Projects and System Enhancements - Assist the Underwriting Department and IT Developers with the concept, design and implementation of system related projects and enhancements to ensure that solutions effectively meet business needs.

  • Assist with the research, identification, and write up of business requirements or user stories.

  • Assist in the development of test plans and organizing and/or executing user acceptance testing.

  • Document project progress, table changes and testing results to maintain compliance standards.

  • Create user training materials and schedule/conduct business user training events as needed.

  • Communicate project details and on-going status with all appropriate parties including business unit managers and associated teams. May participate in estimating project plan timelines.

  • Act as a liaison between the business unit and IT as needed.

  • Demonstrate professionalism and above average communication and collaboration skills in order to maintain personal and team effectiveness.

  • Comfortably communicate with all levels of employees from executive leadership to administrative levels.

  • Exhibit self-awareness and emotional intelligence when challenged with difficult people and situations.

  • Demonstrate curiosity and self-motivation in obtaining one’s own training and development.

  • Create agendas and effectively preside over small team, project and collaboration meetings.

  • Develop and maintain strong, strategic working relationships with the Information Technology group, the Underwriting Department, and other business partners.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Candidate should have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

  • Prefer candidates with an insurance background.

  • Basic experience with using, testing, and maintaining tables and data within application software.

  • Experience using CGI’s Ratabase application is helpful but not required.

  • Job requires strong multi-tasking, organization, and time management skills in order to handle frequent changes to daily routines, emergency interruptions and shifting priorities.
