Sandy Island Staff
Sandy Island Family Camp is searching for an energetic, fun, creative, organized team-oriented, dedicated individual to help demonstrate a customer service focused- “guest first” approach to Camp. This leader will work closely with and under the direction of the Sandy Island Head Chef to deliver exceptional programs, foodservice, and/or hospitality. This is a unique opportunity to create and implement innovative experiences for Sandy Island.
Requirements
Qualities needed for position:
Excellent human relation skills to develop positive, effective working relationships
Culinary School experience preferred
Strong ability to multi-task, is detail oriented, and effectively delegate responsibilities.
Excellent communication, organizational and problem solving skills
Knowledge of child development and staff supervision skills
Team based community living and working skills
Required Certifications/Willingness to receive training:
Child Abuse Prevention
Respect in the Workplace
CPR & First Aid- Lifeguards & program Staff only
Commercial Boat License- If applicable
Lifeguarding- for Waterfront Staff only

As a baker you will prepare a morning, and evening baked good. You will also
plan for the afternoon “treat” that may or may not be baked and assist in
plating all baked goods for being served. Baked goods can be made from mixes and “doctored” with your own personal flair or made from scratch, your choice. This is a great position for a
creative (new or seasoned) person who loves to bake. We are big on team work at our Camp and any help you can pitch in, when available is always greatly appreciated and encouraged, lots of staff and staff children love helping our baker! Our camp serves @ 200 campers and 100 staff & staff children eachday. The baker traditionally rises early and is done work in the late afternoon…but you design your own schedule, we are flexible as long as the baked goods are
fresh and delicious!
Specific Responsibilities
Participate in pre-camp training for all staff
Help create & execute menus based on specialty diets
Train staff and campers in management of food service as it pertains to them
Sweep and mop kitchen
Take out trash from kitchen and dish room to dumpster
Wash, peel, and cut vegetables as needed
Wash pots & pans as needed
Fill and clean juice, milk, and water machines in dining halls
Help upload supply truck and put supplies away
Clean spillage in kitchen or dish room
Make sure dish room and floors are kept clean
Straighten counters and clean after each meal
Help in any area of kitchen or dining room as requested by Food Service Manager
These are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties may be reassigned and other duties assigned as required
