ICF Consulting Group, Inc. Manager, Health Informatics in Trenton, New Jersey

ICF is seeking a Health Informatics Manager to manage and support existing health informatics activities and clients within our International Health and Development team. This position will primarily work on the PEPFAR DATIM project and assist with management of activities that focus on the development and implementation of information technologies and manage assigned staff. There will also be opportunity to work on other global health informatics projects and to support business development opportunities.

The position could be performed from a remote and/or an office location in Maryland, Washington, DC, Virginia, or North Carolina.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership:

  • Act as the Standards-based, Machine-readable, Adaptive, Requirements-based, and Testable (SMART) Guidelines Health Informatics Lead

  • Lead and drive efforts of our client to move towards WHO envisioned future where “everyone in the world benefits fully and immediately from clinical, public health, and data-use recommendations. SMART Guidelines an approach to systematize and accelerate the consistent application of recommended, life-saving interventions in the digital age.”

  • Standup and support effective secretariat management of steering committees that makes the best use of member’s expertise and time and supports great decision-making

  • Perform and support advocacy activities to drive adoption of SMART guidelines within communities of practices, USG agencies (e.g., USAID, CDC.) and national governments, health informatics practitioners etc. including raising awareness and creating change.

  • Provide health informatics subject matter expertise to ensure the progress of narrative programmatic guidance across the maturity scale from paper-based through machine readable recommendation to executable dynamic algorithms.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Build successful relationships with project clients to drive adoption of new technical solutions

  • Effectively communicate with clients regarding issues and work on multiple projects concurrently, balancing needs and setting priorities for projects

Staff management:

  • Perform direct and indirect supervision of staff working on projects including public health, health informatics and software engineering subject matter experts.

  • Coach, mentor and develop staff directly and indirectly to facilitate career growth

  • Manage resources to ensure coverage of client projects matching the right skillsets with project tasks in coordination with project manager and task leads.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in public health, health Informatics, computer science, international studies

  • At least 8 years’ experience working on health informatics technology solutions

  • At least 8 years’ experience building relationships with public health clients in developing technology strategies and solutions that support their programs

  • At least 3 years’ experience managing direct and indirect reports

  • Ability to travel 10-20% time

  • Near-native English verbal and written communication

  • Ability to develop presentations and to present information to varied audiences

  • Experience working with counterparts in low- and middle-income countries

  • Non-English (especially French) verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including demonstrable presentation skills.
