Salary Range: $33.90 - $48.53 PER HOUR (start rate determined in accordance with the collective agreement requirements)
Hours: 37.5 HOURS/WEEK; DAYS/NIGHTS
Status: PERMANENT FULL-TIME
“This inpatient unit is houses several populations related to cancer surgeries: Head and Neck, Breast and Plastics reconstruction surgery, Gynecology Oncology and Urology cancer surgeries. As part of our surgical oncology unit, we have 4 step-down beds for closer observation and monitoring.
Our strong inter-professional team cares for patients recovering from major and minor surgeries. Nurses on this unit are experts in airway management, flap monitoring, leech therapy, ostomy & wound care, neobladders and ileoconduits. Care is holistic and psychosocial assessments and supports are a major elements of our daily work.
The program focuses on cancers affecting:
Head and Neck including but not limited to thyroids, oral cavities, larynx, trachea, etc.
Pelvic cancers for Gynecology and Urology
As a member of the UHN and the Nursing Multi-disciplinary Team, the REGISTERED NURSE practices in accordance with relevant legislation/standards, meeting the legal and ethical requirements of the profession. The principal responsibilities include: applying knowledge of nursing science, theory, skill and critical decision making in the provision of compassionate, collaborative and competent care in accordance with the UHN Professional Practice Model for Nursing and the mission and vision of nursing at the UHN.
Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S) certification
Previous experience in Head and Neck, plastic surgery, Gynecology Oncology and Urology
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Must be flexible, and possess the ability to work effectively and efficiently within a variety of patient care teams
Excellent organizational, time management and decision making skills
Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
