About the Role
We are looking for an Accounting Manager to join the Finance team. Reporting into the Director, Finance you will be part of the daily operations of the financial reporting function and assisting the year end audit.
You will:
Help oversee the daily operations of the accounting function, including Accounts Payable, cash, month end close and monthly financial reporting
Be responsible for the timely and accurate review and posting of month end close transactions and the production of the monthly financial statements
Produce the monthly financial management commentary report with the help of the FP&A function
Establish and maintain integrity of the books within the Netsuite accounting system. Ensure financial data is reconciled and accurate and the processes are operating within a robust control environment
Help manage the year end close in a timely manner
Be a main point of contact with our external auditors and successfully answer any inquiries they may have
Assist in the preparation all tax related filings including T3010 and HST/GST returns
Ensure the accurate translation of our financial reporting from Event accounting to GAAP accounting at year end
Support internal and external stakeholders and maintain a great working relationship
Assist in ad-hoc requests and projects as directed by the Director of Finance
You have:
5+ years’ experience leading a full cycle accounting function
University degree in Accounting or Finance
CPA designation
Experience working for a Canadian not-for-profit and familiarity with fund accounting with in depth knowledge of GAAP
Knowledge of Event accounting is a plus
Experience preparing a T3010
Experience working with Netsuite (Oracle) an asset
Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to handle competing tasks from various stakeholders
High proficiency with Microsoft tools, especially Excel
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
A successful track record of fostering a highly motivated team within a positive culture
High attention to detail with the ability to identify inconsistencies and errors
Always taken ownership of your work and demonstrate a high degree of accountability
Ability to work independently and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
