Under general supervision and according to established procedures, safety codes and schedules, controls, monitors and tests equipment needed to supply the Medical Center with electricity, heat, air conditioning and water; as well as special units service specific departments; i.e., critical alarms throughout the Medical Center and off campus. Performs regularly scheduled rounds, logging appropriate data from computer. Provides routine and preventive maintenance on all equipment. Provides and maintains a clean and safe working environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
A current third (3rd) class Stationary License required
Work requires a high school level of knowledge to perform reports, keep records, etc..
Work Requires ninety (90) days on-the-job training (break-in) to acquire familiarity with plant as well as departmental and Medical Center policies and procedures.
Must Possess and maintain a valid driver license
Works in boiler area where there is some discomfort due to temperature and regular exposure to disagreeable fumes, dirt and noise.
Exposed to potentially serious burns from steam leaks, heated oil/pipes, hazardous chemicals, etc.
Work requires regular walking, standing and lifting and visual effort in inspection of gauges, meters and control boards.
Overtime may be required due to operating conditions.
Ability to work any shift as required.
Ability to work alone and make rational decisions in a timely manner in an often highly demanding environment
