Job Summary:

The Sr Hardware Engineer role will support the Tempe, Arizona product development team working on complex computer blades and platform/chassis solutions. Applicants must be knowledgeable in hardware for computer boards and/or systems. They must have excellent communications and analytical skills, an ability to operate in a demanding development environment and a desire to succeed. This role will participate in the planning and coordination of tasks with minimal direction. The successful candidate must be able to work in a global cross-functional team and, as such, be flexible in working hours. International travel is a possibility.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participates in requirements meetings.

  • Leads in engineering activities such as product specification generation, architectural block diagram generation, schematic generation, PCB layout guidance.

  • Tests designs to ensure that electronic systems and components are functioning at desired levels.

  • Performs root cause analysis to identify issues raised by test results.

  • Makes recommendations for product/process corrections and improvements.

  • Develops positive relationships with other engineering disciplines.

  • Provides documentation of events and status.

  • Mentors junior engineers.

Qualifications: Candidates must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through relevant previous job experiences.

Minimum Qualifications:

4-year Bachelor of Science degree in an appropriate engineering discipline (ie Electrical Engineering) from an accredited institution in the U.S. or a comparable foreign university,

  • 5-10 years of related engineering experience.

Ability to establish requirements for complex board level design projects.

  • Ability to complete all phases of complex board design projects including architecture definition, detailed design, and documentation of the design.

  • Ability to design test procedures/processes and scenarios for board design validation.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position is an individual contributor with no direct supervisory responsibilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position operates in an engineering design and test center and electronics repair center. Employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration, and airborne particles. The noise level can be loud.

The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. Lift aids are available. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
