Primary Job Responsibilities:

The Sr. Assistant Controller at Mainsail Headquarters will help support the day-to-day operations of the Hotel Division as well as the Corporate Accounting and Finance TeamResponsibilities will be varied and never boring! They will include pre-opening hotel budgeting and accounting, financial analysis and supporting Corporate payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, balance sheet reconciliations and audits

This position requires candidates with prior hotel accounting experience as they will be called upon to travel to our hotels to assist or cover open financial leader positions as neededVaried responsibilities, travel, access to senior executives at Mainsail Headquarters and stepping into leadership positions to save the day?what could be more exciting in an accountant?s line of work?!

A Day in The Life of The Sr. Assistant Controller:

  • Assists in the creation of timely and accurate Forecasts, Annual Budgets and Business Plans for pre-opening properties

  • Prepares accounts receivable invoices for pre-opening activities and distributes to development partners

  • Ensures pre-opening accounts payable invoices are properly coded, processed and organized in monthly reporting

  • Supports the Corporate Accounting/Finance team as needed with payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, balance sheet reconciliations and audits

  • Analyzes available information (financial data, customer data, market trends, etc.) and advises senior leaders on ways to improve revenue and/or reduce expenses, ultimately improving profitability

  • Observes when other team members need help and offers assistance when possible

  • Travels to hotel properties and assists with all accounting and financial processes as needed

  • Understands and meet the needs of key stakeholders (owners, company, guests, investors, etc.)

  • Ensures all required deadlines are met

  • Demonstrates knowledge of job-relevant issues, products, systems, and processes

  • Supports and completes additional duties as necessary and assigned

What You Will Need to Succeed (hey, that rhymes!):

  • 4-year bachelor?s degree in Finance and Accounting or related major preferred

  • 4+ years hotel accounting experience, including daily reporting, general ledger, financial statement and balance sheet reconciliation responsibilities

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
