Commercial Appraisal Assistant Job Overview:
The Commercial Appraisal Assistant will assist the Bank's Commercial Appraisal Manager in the commissioning and review process. The purpose of this function is to ensure that: (1) appraisals are independently commissioned from competent appraisers, (2) appraisals are completed in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, (3) value conclusions are appropriate and fully supported, and (4) the Bank has sufficient third-party appraisal resources available to allow for timely turnaround of commercial loan transactions.

Aids the Commercial Appraisal Manager in the commissioning of new appraisals supporting commercial loan transactions.
Coordinates and processes internal commercial appraisal requests
Obtains fee quotes from Bank approved appraisers, selects and engages appraisal report
Fields questions from fee appraisers and clarifies the Bank appraisal requirements.

Researches issues
Discusses with account officer and Commercial Appraisal Manager as needed and determines course of action based on policy requirements
Assists Commercial Appraisal Manager in organizing work flow and special assignments, as required

Organize data and appraisal information related to Bank's core market areas

Maintains list of appraisals in process and tracks appraiser turnaround times and identified appraisal deficiencies

Depending on level of experience, reviews commercial appraisals for compliance with Bank policy, federal regulatory requirements, and the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) specifically related to appraisals and appraisal review.

Qualifications:

BS or BA degree in Business or a related field.
Specialized education or experience in real estate and real property valuation is preferred.

Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills.

Excellent interpersonal relations and communicative skills.

Meticulous attention to detail and organizational skills.

Personal computer proficiency including an intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel.

Knowledge of appraisal theory relative to commercial real estate a plus.

Completion of a commercial credit training program preferred (prior commercial real estate lending experience would be considered a plus), knowledge of real estate appraisal theory and Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) or similar specialized training.

Preferred Candidate will pursue Appraisal Licensing/Certification.

As an integral member of the Credit Administration Department, this position is also responsible to assist in any way to ensure that the department and the Bank achieve annual goals.

Hours: 40 hours/week
Location: DeWitt, NY
Compensation: Level to be determined by experience. In addition, all employees regularly scheduled for 25 or more weekly hours are considered full-time and qualify for the generous benefits package mentioned above!
