Union Home Mortgage Financial Operations Intern, Summer 2021 in Strongsville, Ohio

Union Home Mortgage’s L.E.A.D Internship Program’s goal is to provide a fun, interesting, and real world environment for our interns to Learn about the corporate landscape, Educate them on the mortgage industry, encourage them to Achieve their goals and help Develop their leadership skills. As an Intern Partner, you'll have the opportunity to get involved in meaningful projects and gain hands-on experience in the various fields of an award-winning mortgage company. You’ll work hard, have fun and gain skills that will allow you to take on the world. Our interns are treated like full-time Partners who work 40 hours a week during the 3-month summer program, are compensated, and based out of headquarters in Strongsville, Ohio.

Some of the programs we offer include: shadowing, mentoring, professional development, group projects and we even take our interns on corporate outings! Our internship program gives students a chance to meet new people, gain more experience, and learn from the best in the business!

Financial Operations Intern assist our Operations teams with loan production, reviewing sensitive application materials, conducting outreach to stakeholders, and making sure data is accurate in a timely manner. Financial Operations Internships are perfect for students without any formal internship experience, looking to gain valuable financial experience in a corporate work setting. Ops Interns learn how to review loan application materials, utilize financial software, perform tasks independently and collaboratively, and take ownership of their own work. Students that are interested in finacial operations are put throughas general operations candidates and could be considered and placed in any one of the below departments:

The Closing Intern will work with the operations team at Union Home Mortgage to thoroughly review loan files for data accuracy. The Closing Intern will be placed in the ICD Closer Role (Initial Closing Disclosure) verifying loan data and fully complete the Initial Closing Disclosure along with additional prep work needed for an accurate and timely closing.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Work closely with loan officers, brokers, and Escrow companies to ensure loans are closed/ funded in a timely manner.

· Thoroughly review loan files for data accuracy.

· Verify Wire Instructions with various Title Companies and Escrow Companies.

· Issue Prelim Closing Instructions out to Title Companies and Escrow Companies.

· Verify Borrowers Employment for the final loan closing.

· Pipeline Management

The HVCC Intern is responsible for assigning and processing appraisals, requesting status and handling vendor (appraiser) management-related matters for Union Home Mortgage.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Obtain Case Numbers for government loans

· Assign appraisal orders within the Mercury Network software system, AMC (Appraisal Management Company) or through the VA Portal

· Complete appraisal transfers

· Request status from appraisers to confirm inspection date/delivery of the appraisal

· Problem-solve appraisal-related matters as they relate to the next department in line

· Perform all required quality control and data entry within Encompass, FHA Connection and/or the VA Portal

· Cleary understand and communicate answers to Partners and appraisers through helpdesks

· Work with the team to ensure that the department is maintaining its 24 hour SLA

· Vendor (appraiser) management (vetting of new appraisers and ensuring that appraisers are maintaining proper service levels and professionalism)

The Mutual Title Intern will be responsible for assisting the Escrow Officers in curing title issues, scheduling signings, auditing files, reviewing lender documents and other duties as assigned. This is a very fast-paced environment with extremely high volumes of e-mail and telephone correspondence.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· The assistant is required to assist the officer on all the files, including funding and closing of all transactions

· Open and receipt in all new escrows.

· Order payoffs and other invoices per the contract

· Must be able to effectively read a contract and a title commitment.

· Must be able to prepare estimated closing statements for buyer and seller.

· Must be able to assist lenders with their funding and closing conditions.

· Enter into the status reports all pertinent information for clients.

· Cover the desk in the absence of the officer.

· Must perform customer service and clerical functions to assist all parties involved in the escrow process.

· Disbursement of files

· Reviewing and responding to title policy issues

· Review Title Commitments for potential title issues

The Post Closing Intern will work with the operations team at Union Home Mortgage to ensure the running of the Post-Closing team through various forms of engagement, such as work with UCDs, Mortgage Insurance Forms, and Loan Boarding and Shipment. This position’s goal is to assist with the loan production and to make sure data is accurate and received in a timely manner.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Work closely with loan officers, brokers, and Escrow companies to ensure loans are funded in a timely manner.

· Review signed loan documents to maintain compliance with federal, state and local laws, as well as UHM policies and procedures.

· Transfer data from the loan application into the loan origination software system.

· Submit organized and completed files to the Servicers in a timely manner.

· Work with investors, UHM Partners, and borrowers to obtain documentation required for loan disbursement.

· Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.

· Run UCDs

· Complete and Send Mortgage Insurance Forms

· Board and ship loans

· Occasionally complete necessary reports for Mortgage Insurance companies and Servicers.

The Jr. Processing Intern works with the goal of assisting loan production and to make sure data is accurate and received in a timely manner. Through review and organizing loans, the Jr. Processing Intern works to identify mistakes and discrepancies within the beginning of the loan process and to properly escalate these discrepancies to the corresponding individuals.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Work closely with loan officers, brokers, and Escrow companies to ensure loans are funded in a timely manner.

· Review signed loan documents to maintain compliance with federal, state and local laws, as well as UHM policies and procedures.

· Transfer data from the loan application into the loan origination software system.

· Submit organized and completed files to the loan processor in a timely manner.

· Work with investors, UHM Partners, and borrowers to obtain documentation required for loan disbursement.

· Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.

· Review, process, and file loans

· Identifying mistakes or discrepancies within the loan documents and coordinate with colleagues to acknowledge and fix these discrepancies

· Organizing documents such as bank statements, income documents, paystubs, disclosure, ordering titles, tax transcripts, and condo documents.

The Servicing Intern will work to pull statements and loan activities from loan officers while completing research on tax penalties and exemptions in order to ensure proper compliance within Loan Servicing. This position’s goal is to assist the Servicing Oversight team with loan production and to make sure data is accurate and received in a timely manner.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

· Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.

· Reaching out to borrowers and loan officers

· Research on tax penalties and exemptions

· Pulling statements and loan activity for various loan officers

  • Pursuing a 2-year or 4-year college degree in Business, Finance or related field.

  • Passion or interest in the Mortgage Banking field.

  • Sophomore, Junior or Senior Standing.

  • Candidate must be enthusiastic, a self-starter and have the ability to work in a group or independently

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Ability to communicate with all levels of management and staff.
