Performs a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly operations on electronic and/or mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies such as modules, boards, panels, drawers, frames, and cables. Works from diagrams and drawings, and makes initial layouts, Determines and/or follows methods and sequence of operations in performing wiring, component installation, hand soldering and cable harnessing on assembly units. Makes continuity checks on work in process and completed. May conduct quality inspections on processing line in accordance with quality specifications. May disassemble, modify, rework, reassemble, and test experimental or prototype assemblies and sub-assemblies according to specifications and under simulated conditions. SCOPE: Assists supervisor in the direction of day-to-day activities of all electronic and mechanical assembly. Under limited supervision. Receives some instruction on routine work, general instructions on new assignments. Uses professional concepts to solve a variety of problems.
PROBLEM COMPLEXITY: Works on assignments that are moderately complex in nature where judgment is resolving problems and making routine recommendations. Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained.
IMPACT: Decisions or failure to achieve results may cause delays in schedules.
LIAISON: Interacts daily with supervisor, peer groups, and customers. Interaction normally involves exchange or presentation of factual information. May serve in a lead role and train others.
FREEDOM TO ACT: Normally receives some instruction on routine work, general instruction on new assignments.
LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT: KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND ABILITY: Having some knowledge and experience, able to handle unusual occurring job events. Choice of action requires more than common sense in that some training and experience is needed before knowing what to do under special circumstances.
TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE : High school education or equivalent and 3+ years of related experience.
