BAE Systems Principal Contracts Administrator- Remote in Sterling Heights, Michigan

Job Description

BAE Systems, one of the world's leading defense contractors and a Fortune 500 Company, is looking to add a Principal Contracts Administrator in support of our growing Combat Mission Systems (Combat Vehicles) business at BAE Systems Land & Armaments L.P., Sterling Heights, MI. This role is for a highly motivated tactician who excels in the face of volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity.


  • Provides authoritative guidance to the integrated program management team and other internal stakeholders

  • Operates as the focal point for all official communications between BAE Systems and cognizant Contracting Officers

  • Prepares specialized responses to solicitations, ROMs, requests for white papers, PCO Letters, and contract modifications

  • Develops negotiation strategies and leads negotiation team on complex contractual issues

  • Analyzes nuanced contract requirements, special provisions, terms and conditions to ensure compliance with appropriate laws, regulations, corporate policies & procedures

  • Operates with an appreciation of financial/analytical issues and profit/loss implications

  • Assists in identification, development, and implementation of new contract policies and processes

  • May assist in new business pursuits and associated contract strategies

  • May mentor and train less experienced professionals

  • May participate in development of business alliances, bailment agreements, and partnering agreements

Open to remote work with the ability to travel as needed

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree with 6 years work experience

  • Working knowledge with FAR & DFARS

  • Ability to draft complex, non-routine contract language

  • Nuanced knowledge of contracting concepts, e.g., contract types, change management, proposal process, payment terms, and Uniform Commercial Code

  • Exceptional analytical and communication skills

  • Good presentation, leadership, and team-building skills

  • Use of independent judgment and creativity applied to resolution of contract issues

  • Emerging ability to excel in upper level management environment

  • Ability to prioritize and multitask in a dynamic environment

  • Overall positive and constructive attitude

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • JD/MBA degree

  • DOD/DCMA contracting experience
