ASRC Federal Holding Company Heavy Equipment Mechanic - Temporary As Needed in Sterling Heights, Michigan

ASRC Federal Field Services is currently seeking a Temporary Heavy Equipment Mechanic to support the US ARMY Detroit Arsenal in Sterling Heights, Michigan. This is a great opportunity to work in a research and development facility. The work is dedicated to advancing technology in ground systems and survivability for our troops.

*This position is a temporary (as needed) position with the ability to work full-time while activated.


The Heavy Equipment Mechanic shall provide technical services in the areas of heavy equipment repair. They will support in the repair, Preventative Maintenance Check and Services (PMCS), assisting the Government engineers and technicians in the development of military vehicles.

  • Provide support in the diagnoses, troubleshooting and solving of complex mechanical vehicle problems.

  • Identify any known changes to the vehicle's performance as a result of a repair or installation of a new system to the vehicle and report the findings.

  • Provide technical services for system integration functions that will require knowledge in hydraulics, pneumatics, electronics, mechanics, fabrication, assembly, physical prototyping, analysis and troubleshooting and integration of new systems.

  • The contractor shall troubleshoot and diagnose vehicle systems.

  • Ability to utilize extensive experience in the major areas of heavy duty vehicle systems and repair consisting of diesel and gasoline engines, automatic transmissions, drive systems, steering, suspension, brakes and electronics and heating and ventilation air conditioning systems.

  • Capable of standing all day and lifting 45 lbs.

  • 50 to 100% travel.

  • Follow all safety, regulatory and environmental/hazardous standards.
