Samsung Electronics America 5G Researcher - 12 Month FTC in Staines-Upon-Thames, United Kingdom
Structured within the department of Communications Research, the 5G research team is responsible for delivering the contractual commitments in SRUK’s 5G European research projects. We are a key partner in multiple European project such as 5G-VINNI, 5G-LOCUS and 5G-TOURs. These projects develops innovative solutions for localisation and positioning, network management using AI and building a 5G infrastructure supporting various verticals. We are looking for a 5G Researcher to join us for a period of 1 year to further enhance our research capacity and cover for the current incumbent while on maternity leave. This person will work closely with the other members of the 5G research team, who will provide guidance on the research topics/areas. They will need to plan and deliver the research to tight time scales. He/she will also present the research findings in the relevant work package tele-conferences and at 4-monthly project plenary meetings, contribute to the project deliverables/ internal reports and also disseminate the research to wider audiences.
This is a 12 month fixed term contract.
Role and Responsibilities
Technical areas of work:
The role holder is expected to contribute to the 5G-TOURs ( https://5gtours.eu/ ) project using his/her knowledge in wireless communications technologies and 5G in particular. Importantly, they will need to work on the application of AI to network management and orchestration. Other tasks will involve the KPI analysis both on the vertical side and the network side. This will lead to an overall evaluation of the solution efficiency and possible ways to improve the overall performance of the 5G-TOURs platform.
Skills and Qualifications
Post-graduate degree (preferably having completed or completing a PhD) in wireless communications/ signal processing.
Knowledge of 5G, network management principles, network slicing, virtualization,Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
Good analytical skills in research, demonstrated by high quality publications.
Oral and written communication skills. Ability to work as part of a team and also self-motivated, results oriented.
Experience in developing/ running a system level simulator.
Experience in developing in Matlab.
Prior working experience within European Commission funded research projects. Working knowledge of 3GPP Release 15.
