    The Safety & Security Supervisor supports the hospital mission, holding staff accountable for performance and motivating staff. This position will support cultural diversity by ensuring that the delivery of quality, equitable and culturally competent patient-centered care is provided; promoting and maintaining an inclusive work environment and culture that is respectful and accepting of diversity. Responsibilities include:

  • Supervise the organizations security programs and directs the day to day operations to maintain a secure environment.

  • Provides counsel and direction to staff on a regular basis to provide work direction and assists with problem solving.

  • Coordinates internal investigations for criminal allegations and property claims when called upon.

  • Supervises staff to include hiring, coaching, educating, evaluating and disciplining.

  • Coordinates the hospital efforts with Secret Service and other VIP related activities when necessary.

  • Assists with maintaining an annual budget that supports the costs associated with staffing, training, maintenance of equipment and education, operate within the approved budget. Communicates directly to the Manager of Safety and Security when conditions warrant otherwise. Appropriately plans for capital expenditures that support existing and new programs that provide security to the organization.

  • Assists in developing and maintaining Disaster Response and emergency response for Regions Hospital.

  • Attends and participates at regular Environment of Care, Disaster Committees meetings and activities in accordance with the needs of the organization and standards set forth by Joint Commission.

  • Assists with managing the organizations fire protection and prevention programs through maintenance, training and inspections.

  • Assists in ensuring that all fire protection systems are inspected and tested in accordance with local, state and national fire and building codes and also in accordance with Joint Commission. This includes the hospital and all clinics under the authority of the hospital.

  • Develops and implements appropriate fire training for Security Staff. This includes new employee orientation and annual education.

  • Coordinates and conducts fire drills for the hospital and all clinics under the authority of the hospital.

  • Coordinates and executes special operations as directed.

  • Works with internal customers to ensure that all safety & security needs are being met to their expectation.

  • Provides direction to the Safety & Security staff to include routine briefings on events, training on changes and participating in the execution of new programs and projects.

  • Assists in the development of policies and procedures that will assist in managing new programs through training and establishing clear expectations.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education: High School Diploma

    Experience: Minimum of two years of Safety & Security, law enforcement or military deployment experience required.

    Licensure/ Registration/ Certification: Shall possess a valid driver’s license. International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Basic certification within 90 days of employment.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education: Bachelor’s degree in public safety or related field preferred. Related experience may substitute for the education on a year to year basis.
