Bethel University Adjunct Faculty/Student Teaching Supervisor for Mathematics - M.A. Teaching in St. Paul, Minnesota
Supervise graduate-level teacher candidates during their student teaching. Supervisors are needed in the areas of secondary science education, secondary mathematics education, and secondary business education. Supervisors will travel to schools to observe and mentor teacher candidates, and use software to conduct video observations. Must have daytime availability to drive to schools; must have own transportation and computer with Internet access.
Travel to candidates’ schools to observe, coach and evaluate the candidates’ planning, instruction, assessment, classroom management, and professionalism
Mentor candidates towards successful completion of their edTPA
Serve as a representative and liaison between K-12 schools and Bethel University
Attend occasional team meetings with other Bethel supervisors in order to provide input on strengthening the teacher preparation program
Knowledge of current middle and high school teaching pedagogies
Knowledge of current middle and high school classroom management strategies
Experience teaching and/or mentoring adult students is preferred
Computer skills such as Microsoft Office or Google Apps for Education
Experience with the edTPA is preferred
Three years’ experience teaching middle and/or high school students in one of these content areas: business, English language arts, mathematics, or one of the following: physics/chemistry/life sciences/general sciences.
A master's degree in education or a related field is required. Must hold or have held a teaching license that covers the span of the needed licensure area (the teaching license does not have to be current and it does not have to be from Minnesota).
