The Boeing Company has an exciting opportunity for an Experienced Vehicle Management Systems Requirements Engineer (Level 3) to join the Phantom Works Fixed Wing VMS Requirements Team located in St. Louis, Missouri. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.

In this role, you will work across disciplines to design elements of the Vehicle Management System (VMS) Operational Flight Program (OFP). You will collaborate with our hardware, software, and labs teams to implement and test your designs. This exciting and interdisciplinary role is part of a proprietary program in Boeing Phantom Works.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop software requirements and design for a Vehicle Management System (VMS).

  • Design airplane input signal processing, redundancy management, system monitoring and control.

  • Apply model-based engineering techniques to design and verify system requirements. Interpret requirements and functional subsystem descriptions to formulate and test mathematical models.

  • Coordinate and integrate requirements across engineering disciplines.

  • Verify and validate software against designed requirements in virtual and hardware test environments.

  • Conduct analysis to support certification of a Vehicle Management System.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Export Control:

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Possess a Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.

  • 5+ years experience with avionics integration and/or experience with requirements and design of hardware or software systems and/or experience with modeling and simulation.

  • Ability to work under minimal direction in a team environment.

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

  • Strong technical documentation abilities.

  • Detail-oriented with strong coordination, organization, teaming, and communication abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of VMS design activities (HW/SW design, integration, modeling, and test procedure development)

  • Experience in modeling, simulation, and test in Matlab/Simulink

  • Familiarity with Simulink modeling for real-time embedded applications

  • Experience in analog and digital circuit design and analysis

  • Experience with Microsoft Visio, Clearcase, C++, C#, Visual Studio, Python

  • A current DOD Secret clearance is highly desirable

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
