POSITION: Computer Programmer TYPE OF POSITION: Hourly, Full time, Year-round position Non-Represented Hours may vary based on program needs REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Student Services SUPERVISION: None QUALIFICATIONS: Required High School diploma plus 2 years post-secondary education - Computer programming, Information Technology or related field 3 years' experience in related areas Knowledge of and experience working with SQL, databases, Active Directory, Microsoft products, importing/exporting of data, training, and customer service Preferred 3 years Minnesota School District work experience Experience in Filemaker Pro, Skyward, IBM NT Server, SQL Server POSITION SUMMARY: The Computer Programmer is responsible for applying computer technology to provide solutions in support of the educational mission of ISD742; providing access to applications; overseeing operation of computer system, training and assisting administrative users, maintaining documentation (e.g. computer programs, computer operation procedures, student software systems), solving problems, working with 3rd party tools, providing information and/or providing direction as may be required. Databases may include Payroll, Human Resources, Finance and Student software. The Computer programmer is also responsible for writing syntax statements, analyzing, extracting, auditing, loading and maintaining data used in various databases throughout the District; this includes archiving, year-end processes and reporting data. The Computer Programmer may be responsible for administering updates, merging information and preparing reports for use by administration to make data driven decisions. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Analyzes hardware, software and micro application software problems for the purpose of resolving issues and/or determining feasibility and system programming and resource requirements Develops and maintains systems and software applications (e.g. report writing, screen design, graphical user interfaces, system procedures, etc.) for the purpose of providing computerized alternatives to manual processes and/or enhancing current database products Establishes/maintains links for the purpose of extracting and downloading information Generates and maintains system and program design specifications for the purpose of providing accurate documentation and reference Prepares a variety of materials (e.g. reports, memos, procedures, user documentation, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information Provides necessary analysis for the purpose of ensuring their ability to use new and/or existing software Responds to inquiries for the purpose of providing information and/or direction Trains system users for the purpose of ensuring the efficient use of systems and/or applications SKILLS IN: Analyzing data, work processes and situations, reasoning logically, drawing sound conclusions and developing effective solutions to system problems Adapting hard-copy procedures to automated systems Modifying and upgrading existing or vendor-supplied systems to meet District needs Preparing comprehensive and technical reports and effective written documentation Prioritizing own work, coordinating work of a project team and meeting critical deadlines Making sound independent judgments within policy and procedural guidelines Excellent organization and project management skills Strong communication skills including writing, speaking and listening; ability to work with diverse groups Skill in team building and collaboration with a demonstrated ability to involve others in work and to inform others of processes PHYSICAL FACTORS: Frequent: walking, standing, bending, sitting, hearing, talking, and seeing All Employees of Saint Cloud School District 742 are responsible to support District goals, to work collaboratively and respectfully with diverse populations of staff, students and p
