Leidos Project Team Lead in Springfield, Virginia
Leidos is looking for a Project Team Lead to support a large IT infrastructure support contract at its customer location in Springfield, VA. The Project Team Lead role is a senior/leadership position for the contract’s Project Manager (PM) Team. The Project Team Lead will be responsible for working with the Project Managers, government leadership and other internal/external resources to accomplish the team’s project requirements.
Responsibilities of the Project Team Lead include (but not limited to):
Manage a team of Project Managers (PM) responsible for a portfolio of projects of varying sizes and complexity.
Will work closely with the Project Portfolio Manager for day-to-day oversight of all project related activities.
Provide daily mentoring/feedback/guidance to the PM team; help resolve project related issues.
Facilitate weekly meetings with the PM team to discuss status of emerging requirements and active projects.
Participate in/lead review meetings to evaluate estimates prepared by PM team prior to submission; Project Lead may occasionally prepare estimates for submission
Regularly engage with the contract’s Government Program Management Office (GPMO) and Contracting Office Representative (COR) regarding issues and questions regarding status of projects.
Discuss and provide recommendations for emerging requirements, current projects and resolution/mitigation of related issues.
Engage with other UFS Service Managers to discuss and mitigate issues and risks that could impact success for projects
Develop and coordinate project related content and metrics for briefings presented to the government leadership on a bi-weekly, monthly and quarterly basis; provide briefings to senior leadership and large audiences.
Initiate and attend other ad hoc meetings as needed.
Responsible for staffing and salary decisions for the Project team; work closely with Project Portfolio Manager to screen and interview new candidates (direct hire and subcontractors); responsible for onboarding, timecard approvals, and performance evaluations for Leidos team members.
Engage with Leidos functional support teams (Contracts/Subcontracts, Finance, HR, Talent Acquisition).
Work on continuous process improvements to include updates and changes to the team’s SharePoint site, the project estimating template, collection and presentation of metrics data, etc.
Plan and coordinate team forums to bring together the PM team for a day of information sharing, lessons-learned, ensuring recent process changes are understood, etc.
Direct the tasks of the team’s Project Engineer support.
Excellent written and oral communication and briefing skills.
Strong critical thinking, analytical and problem solving skills.
Must be proactive; anticipate risks and develop mitigations.
Strong team leadership and customer relationship skills.
Prior supervisory experience.
Advanced proficiency in using MS Office software suite, especially Excel and SharePoint; MS Project is highly desired.
Experience supporting DoD/IC contracts.
Previous project management experience for IT infrastructure projects.
Intermediate to advance technical understanding of the operation, networking and integration of IT hardware and associated peripherals.
Experience using Service+ is also highly desired.
Experience supporting NGA is desired.
Education & Experience:
Requires Bachelors Degree and 12 – 15 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 10 – 13 years of prior relevant experience
Experience in lieu of degree.
