Preferred Family Healthcare Director of Privacy in Springfield, Missouri

Your role at PFH:

As the Director of Privacy, you are responsible for developing, implementing and coordinating a comprehensive privacy program which includes but is not limited to: policy and procedure development and monitoring of privacy practices, privacy training and education, investigating complaints and reports of privacy related noncompliance, monitoring of privacy related data metrics, and assisting the company with requests and release for privacy related records.

You will:

Privacy Policies, Procedures and Practices

  • In collaboration with senior management, administrative departments and the CCEO, annually complete and document performance of a privacy risk assessment. Areas of focus may include, but are not limited to PHI security, unauthorized disclosures, mitigation of disclosures, right to access information, employee sanctions and trends/patterns analysis. Federal guidance and best practices shall be considered and utilized in completing the risk assessment.

  • Works in conjunction with senior management and the CCEO on development, implementation and revision of privacy related policies and procedures.

Privacy Training and Education

  • Collaborate with Human Resources, Accounting and the CCEO on development/modifications of orientation and on-going privacy related training for PFH associates, contracted providers, vendors and BAA/QSOA's. Training should effectively educate associates and contracted providers on PFH privacy policies and procedures, protection and safeguarding of PHI, reporting of possible breaches of PHI, and possible sanctions for violation. Privacy related training should be tailored to relevant audiences and learning styles and should be documented in the employees personnel file.

Privacy Reports, Investigation and Mitigation:

  • Collaborate with senior management regarding PHI concerns and responsibilities.

  • Receive and timely investigate/respond to complaints or reports involving breach of PHI.

  • Ensures all privacy related complaints and dispositions are appropriately documented.

Security Safeguard Monitoring:

  • Collaborate with I.T. and data management systems as needed to ensure security measures are sufficient to minimize privacy related risks and vulnerabilities to ePHI and systems on a daily basis and in the event of utilization of an emergency.

Focused Auditing/Monitoring/Trending:

  • Annually assess PFH's readiness for an OCR review and submit analysis to the CCEO.

  • Regularly audit Tier 1 vendor access to PHI and report to the Director of Administrative Compliance.

Requests for Access to PHI:

  • Works in conjunction with the CCEO and the records data management department on the right to access requirements, proper ROI, subpoena, and/or court orders parameters prior to the release of information, accounting of release of information and right to amend or restrict PHI requests

  • Collaborate as necessary regarding release of information for research purposes.

We think you'd be great for this role if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university

  • Experience working in Mental or Behavioral Health and/or Substance Use Disorder Services, preferred.

  • Experience in healthcare related compliance or privacy practices

  • Healthcare related privacy credential preferred

  • Experience drafting corporate policies and procedures to the privacy and admin director positions
