CBS 62 (WWJ-TV) and CW50 (WKBD-TV), the CBS News and Stations owned & operated in the #15 television market Detroit, is searching for a highly qualified team player for the position of IT Technician. This position maintains, updates, and repairs systems and equipment used for broadcasting and business operations. This position is a member of our support team that maintains critical broadcast operations.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills, knowledgeable of broadcast related systems and processes and understands the role of the Engineering Group as a support organization to the News efforts of the facility. Will be responsible for the full lifecycle management of all users physical and virtual endpoints and network access; processing documentation and asset tracking; managing backups, archiving, and anti-virus protection and remediation.
Advanced level of experience with macOS, Microsoft Windows 10
Proficient use of Server 2012 and 2019; Linux/Unix a plus
Proficient use of Operating system deployment tools and concepts like MDT, WinInstall, PXE boot, gold images, Ghost, Acronis, and DD
Proficient in patch application MECM, BigFix, WSUS, JAMF Pro
Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 including OneDrive, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, SharePoint and Visio
Proficient with various Antivirus tools and drive encryption software
Proficient with in band remote access tools like IDRAC, BMC, HPRGS, Remote Desktop
Proficient with iPhone, iPad and other various 5G / 5Guw devices
Proficient with common MDM application in Tune, JAMF, Boxer
Proficient with wired and wireless network connectivity.
Proficient with VLANs and variable SSIDs
Broadcast newsroom, web technologies, INEWS knowledge a plus
Avaya IP phone system support a plus
Ability to learn and implement new hardware and software technology
Efficiently and effectively demonstrate troubleshooting skills in a high stress environment
Must be able prioritize and resolve issues
Self-motivated and willing to work various hours, including occasional overnights and weekends
Applicant must meet physical requirements, as the position may involve hefty lifting and climbing
Bachelors Degree or two year technical school preferred.
Minimum of five years experience working with broadcast computer systems, media storage systems, networks, LANs, WANs, etc. or five years experience in a computer related job as a maintenance engineer or technician required.
