VMware Senior Director, Enterprise Sales ANZ in Southbank, Australia

As a result of internal career progression, we are seeking a Senior Director of Enterprise Sales. The Senior Director, Enterprise Sales has the responsibility of leading a team of Regional Sales Directors across ANZ, with a focus of working with our largest and most strategic customers. This role is critical to the growth of VMware and leads a combination of direct and specialist sales resources in a matrixed environment. Leading with purpose, partnering with customers on their success and continuing development of our world class teams are all factors in the success of this role.

This is a Senior Executive role and will report directly to the VP of the ANZ Business and sit on the ANZ Senior Leadership team.


  • Create, implement and execute the vision for our ANZ Enterprise Sales Teams in line with VMware regional and global strategies

  • Successfully deliver quarterly VMware Enterprise business goals, whilst simultaneously strategically planning and building the business for continued accelerated growth year on year

  • Complete regular reviews with our Regional Sales Directors regarding the planning and execution of their short- and long-term business plans, the engagement, success and development of their team and their continued Leadership growth and development

  • Collaborate with our Specialty Business Unit Leaders in ensuring we are successfully pursuing and positioning platform strategies with our customers

  • Establish and position VMware as a thought leader in the external market and drive team collaboration with internal resources such as technical, marketing, and professional services to support customer needs, sales strategy and overall business growth

  • Facilitate collaborative engagements between partners and customers to drive incremental revenue, strong relationships and high levels of customer satisfaction whilst maintaining alignment with the business direction

  • Act as an executive sponsor & leader with our key customers. Represent VMware at conferences and networking events, showcasing the VMware vision and our success with customers to date.

  • Have a strong understanding of the market shift to Subscriptions & SaaS

  • Actively develop our Regional Sales Directors and team members via regular feedback, coaching, guidance, career development and active succession planning

  • Contributing and actively promoting VMware’s diversity, equity & inclusion initiatives in ANZ, showcasing success across the ANZ Enterprise business

  • Uniting all Sales Directors and Managers in ANZ to ensure a “One Sales Team” approach in our business

  • Represent and demonstrate alignment to the EPIC2 values across the direct and indirect functions in the Enterprise business.

  • Participating and contributing to the ANZ Senior Leadership Team

  • Working with the extending APJ Enterprise team to contribute and learn from best practice, both locally, regionally and globally


  • 10+ years’ experience building, leading and managing successful sales teams to achieve high growth initiatives and revenue goals in a fast paced, matrixed and ever-changing sales environment.

  • Experience building, engaging and leading a distributed, diverse team.

  • Strong sales and business acumen, credibility and presence to enable effective relationship building, influencing and instilling confidence at all business levels

  • Proven ability to engage at all levels in Enterprise Accounts across C-Suite, IT, Operations, AppOps/Dev-admin for the purposes of solution selling and articulating VMware strategic vision

  • Experience in managing relationships and influencing in both customer and Channel driven sales environments and complex global alliances

  • Experience selling complex solutions, requiring implementation, integration, and Professional Services to execute

  • Experience building demand with cycle times of 6-24 months

  • Experience in managing relationships and influence within a customer and with external third parties that formulate a customer’s strategic thinking and actions

  • Strong experience leading a multi-functional team in complex engagements

  • Proven experience in business analysis, planning and management

  • High levels of energy, drive and commitment, combined with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
