PDS Tech Inc County Technician in Smyrna, Georgia

Position Title : County Technician

Description: Individual will be trained in the successful setup and operation of voting equipment products, with the intent of providing technical and operational support to the election staff of an assigned county.

Job Duties

Interface with customers as the on-site support source for our products and the first tier of technical and operational support in system usage.

Serve as the communication liaison between the company and the County Election Officials via in-person, telephone and email interaction as required for:

  • Proper operation of the system components;

  • Maintenance of voting system components.

  • Coordination of the RMA process when necessary.

  • Assisting in pre-election and post-election Logic and Accuracy Testing.

  • Training of associates and customers on products and procedures.

  • Training temporary county staff during the election cycle as required.

  • Ancillary election activities as required.

  • Assist with the maintenance of all records related to voting system components by completing and submitting all required and necessary paperwork.

Documents and reports all anomalies and issues encountered for all hardware and software products.

Adheres to all local, state, and federal rules and regulations that pertain to the operation of election systems.

Ensures compliance with product warranty requirements.

Identifies and describes product issues to contribute to ongoing product development

Education, Experience and Skills:

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED;

  • Minimum of one (1) year of related computer maintenance work experience;

  • Experience using various technological operating systems;

  • Some customer service work experience;

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Clean background check, no criminal record of any type;

  • Cannot be active in political cause or political party activities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience performing setup and maintenance work on computer equipment preferred.

  • Preferred CompTIA A+ Certification

  • Experience in working in an election environment is desirable, but not mandatory

  • Experience working in an election environment or polling site is desirable


  • Working knowledge of service set-up, repairing and maintaining computer equipment and machinery;

  • Understanding of the hazards and safety precautions involved in repairing and maintaining computer equipment and the related software used in computer equipment.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and identify system problems and replace as necessary using various hand tools and equipment.

  • Ability to explain and/or demonstrate equipment operations to others.

  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.

Physical Conditions & Work Contacts:

Requires the ability to lift and carry items weighing 20-50 pounds, with occasional lifting of items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires ability to work a flexible schedule.

Ability to travel to an assigned county location from home or to overnight stay in that county during the week.

Ability to work evenings and weekends when the preparation tasks of the election cycle require it.
